Improvement in blood pressure control in essential hypertension
This medicine effectively lowers blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension who have difficulty controlling blood pressure with either amlodipine or telmisartan monotherapy. It contributes to the prevention of serious complications such as heart disease and stroke by managing high blood pressure well. Therefore, it is used for the treatment of essential hypertension.
The recommended dose of this medicine is 1 tablet once daily, to be taken with water regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time each day (e.g., morning). Doses may be adjusted based on blood pressure control: 40/5 mg, 80/5 mg, and 40/10 mg, with dosage adjustments recommended for patients with renal impairment and the elderly.
The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so its use is not recommended.
This medicine should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimester, as it may pose a serious risk to the fetus. If pregnancy is confirmed, the use of this medicine should be discontinued as soon as possible. This medicine should not be administered to patients who are allergic to the active ingredient or similar substances, those who are pregnant or may become pregnant, nursing mothers, patients with biliary obstruction, patients with severe liver impairment, patients with serious heart-related diseases, etc. Special caution is required for patients with certain conditions, such as primary aldosteronism, aortic or mitral stenosis, liver disease, gastrointestinal disorders, renal artery hypertension, renal failure, and elderly patients. During the course of treatment with this medicine, side effects such as dizziness, peripheral edema, and hypotension may occur, and if symptoms are severe, consultation with a physician is advised. As this is a blood pressure-lowering drug, symptoms of hypotension may occur, and patients with fluid or salt depletion should check their condition before taking it. This medicine can affect potassium levels in the blood, so patients at risk for hyperkalemia should have regular blood tests. Patients with decreased renal function should periodically monitor for changes in kidney function while taking this medicine. This medicine may interact with other drugs, so it is essential to inform healthcare professionals of any current medications. Drowsiness or dizziness may occur, so caution is advised while driving or operating hazardous machinery. This medicine is not recommended for pediatric patients, and dosage adjustment and careful monitoring are necessary for elderly patients. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, changes in heart rate, and renal failure may present, requiring immediate medical attention. This medicine should be kept out of the reach of children and must be protected from moisture after opening.
Urticaria, severe swelling (angioedema), severe allergic reactions, severe skin reactions, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, jaundice, liver dysfunction, hepatitis, severe neurological symptoms, myocardial infarction, ventricular tachycardia, arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation, vasculitis, respiratory distress, interstitial lung disease, acute renal failure, renal failure, severe generalized swelling, and urinary abnormalities accompanied by increased blood pressure, sepsis, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, anaphylaxis
