Improvement of blood pressure control in essential hypertension with the combination of amlodipine and valsartan.
This medication is used to effectively lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled by monotherapy with either amlodipine or valsartan.
The recommended dose for this medication is one tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (for example: in the morning). Dosage is adjusted based on blood pressure control and is available in 5/80 mg, 5/160 mg, and 10/160 mg. Renal or hepatic impairment patients require adjusted dosing and limitations. Elderly patients over 65 should be cautious when increasing the dose.
Safety and efficacy have not been established for pediatric patients under 18 years old, so administration of this medication is not recommended.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so you must stop taking it immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication, pregnant or nursing women, patients with severe kidney or liver impairment, and those with a history of certain heart conditions or angioedema should not take this medication. Low blood pressure may occur if there is a deficiency of sodium or fluid in the body, so you should check your condition carefully before taking it, and appropriate treatment is required if symptoms of low blood pressure appear during treatment. Patients with high potassium levels or taking medications that can increase potassium levels should have their potassium levels checked regularly. Patients with poor kidney function, those who have received a kidney transplant, and patients with a history of angioedema should use this medication cautiously and should stop taking it immediately if symptoms occur. Patients with heart failure or post-myocardial infarction should carefully monitor their kidney function and blood pressure while taking this medication, and some heart disease patients may require special attention. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive medications or certain drugs, so you should consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medications. Caution should be taken as dizziness or fatigue may occur when driving or operating machinery. In case of overdose, blood pressure may drop excessively, so maintain the exact dosage and contact a healthcare provider immediately if any unusual symptoms arise. This medication is not recommended for children under 18 years old, and elderly patients can take the same dose as adults. It is important to regularly check blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels during treatment to ensure there are no abnormalities.
Urticaria, severe swelling (edema), angioedema, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, dyspnea or difficulty breathing, asthma attack, respiratory abnormalities with cough and fever, jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizure, confusion, visual disturbances
