Treatment of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, alleviation of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease, and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases
This medicine is used for the treatment of gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, erosive and ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is effective for symptom relief of gastroesophageal reflux disease as well as long-term maintenance therapy for it. It can also help treat gastrointestinal ulcers infected with Helicobacter pylori in combination with antibiotics. It is applicable for conditions of excessive gastric acid secretion such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and overall improves the health of the stomach and esophagus.
Gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer: 10 mg orally once a day. Depending on the symptoms, 20 mg may be taken orally once a day. Treatment lasts 8 weeks for gastric ulcer and 6 weeks for duodenal ulcer. Erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: 10 mg or 20 mg orally once a day for 4 to 8 weeks. If symptoms persist after 8 weeks, an additional 8-week treatment of 10 mg or 20 mg may be given.
This medication should not be used in patients with certain allergic reactions or those taking specific antibiotics and other drugs. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use this medication. Patients with impaired liver function or the elderly should use this medication cautiously. During the use of this medication, allergic reactions such as skin rash and itching may occur; if symptoms arise, the medication should be discontinued immediately. Regular blood tests and liver function tests are necessary, and if any abnormalities are found, consultation with a doctor is required. Side effects can occur in various areas including the heart, gastrointestinal system, nervous system, respiratory system, and skin, so any unusual symptoms should be reported immediately. There is a risk of increased bone fracture with long-term use, so caution is necessary. This medication can affect the absorption of certain drugs by inhibiting gastric acid secretion, so consult with a doctor when taking it with other medications. Caution is advised as drowsiness may occur while driving or operating machinery. Safety has not been established during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so it should not be taken. It is advisable not to use in children as safety has not been established. In cases of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so symptomatic treatment should be followed. This medication should be swallowed whole and not chewed or crushed, and must be stored out of reach of children.
Hives, severe swelling, chest tightness, breathing difficulty, severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in the oral/eye mucosa, systemic allergic reaction (hypotension, difficulty breathing, facial swelling, etc.), abnormal lung sounds, acute interstitial nephritis, jaundice, hepatic encephalopathy, sudden and severe headache, confusion, disorientation, visual disturbances, paralysis, seizures, severe swelling with elevated blood pressure, hematuria, decreased platelets.
