Precautions

This medication is a combination drug containing sitagliptin and metformin hydrochloride used for diabetes treatment. First, the sitagliptin component may cause a rare but serious allergic reaction, so if symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur within 3 months after administration, you should stop using it immediately and consult a doctor. Furthermore, acute pancreatitis may occur, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, or loss of appetite occur, you should inform your healthcare professional immediately. The metformin hydrochloride component may cause a rare serious side effect called lactic acidosis, which can be accompanied by symptoms such as muscle pain, difficulty breathing, fatigue, and abdominal pain. Patients with impaired kidney function, severe infections, dehydration, or heart failure should not take this medication, and its use should be suspended for a certain period before and after tests using iodine contrast agents. It is recommended not to use this medication in pregnant or breastfeeding women or in children under 18 years old as safety has not been established. During the use of this medication, regular kidney function and blood tests should be performed, and checking vitamin B12 levels periodically is recommended. Also, due to the risk of hypoglycemia, special caution should be taken in cases of irregular meals, excessive exercise, or concurrent use with other hypoglycemic agents or alcohol. Before and after surgery, the administration of this medication should be discontinued for a certain period, and it should be resumed only after the patient's condition stabilizes. Excessive consumption of alcohol during treatment should be avoided, and if new symptoms or adverse reactions occur during medication use, you should consult a doctor immediately. Lastly, this medication may require caution when driving or operating machinery, so you should be well aware of hypoglycemic symptoms.
