Precautions

This medication should be avoided in patients under 18 years of age with obesity, obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, or severe pulmonary diseases due to an increased risk of severe respiratory depression. Patients with allergies to this medication or its components or with a history of such reactions should not use it. Patients currently taking or who have stopped taking MAO inhibitors within 2 weeks, including antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and anticholinergics, should not be given this medication. Children under 12 years of age, pregnant women, patients with glaucoma, or patients with obstructive urological disorders such as prostate hypertrophy should not use this medication. Patients with allergic tendencies, a history of drug-related allergic symptoms, liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid disease, diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, the elderly, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication with caution. Additionally, patients with elevated intraocular pressure or urinary difficulties, certain cough symptoms, or patients with stricture peptic ulcers and epilepsy should also be cautious. During treatment with this medication, drowsiness may occur; therefore, it is advisable to avoid driving or operating machinery, and excess dosage or prolonged use should be avoided. This medication should not be taken with other cough suppressants, cold medications, antihistamines, or sedatives, and may enhance drowsiness when taken with alcohol or central nervous system depressants. Pregnant women or nursing mothers should use this medication cautiously only when necessary, as its safety has not been established. In particular, nursing mothers should avoid taking this medication as it may suppress breast milk secretion and be transmitted through breast milk. Excess dosage in children may lead to hallucinations, excitement, seizures, and, in severe cases, death, so it should not be used in children under 12 years of age, and the elderly should be monitored closely due to decreased physiological functions. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as central nervous system disturbances, convulsions, apnea, confusion, and cardiovascular issues may occur, necessitating immediate emergency measures such as inducing vomiting or gastric lavage. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, away from direct sunlight, and in a cool, dry place. Additionally, to preserve quality and prevent misuse, it is important not to transfer the medication to other containers.
