Precautions

This medication contains a component that belongs to the beta-lactam class of antibiotics and is part of the penicillin family. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication or a history of allergy to beta-lactam drugs should not use it. Particularly, patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia may have a higher risk of rash when taking this medication, so caution is advised. Additionally, those who have previously experienced liver dysfunction or jaundice due to this medication or penicillin should avoid its use due to the possibility of recurrence. Patients with impaired liver function or severe renal impairment may have an increased concentration of this medication, so dosage adjustments and administration interval adjustments are necessary. Individuals with allergic dispositions or those who easily experience bronchial asthma, skin rashes, or hives should also use this medication cautiously. Patients who find it difficult to take medication orally, elderly individuals, or those in poor general condition should be cautious, as there is a risk of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency. This medication can cause various gastrointestinal side effects, including diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite, which are common, while rare but severe symptoms such as pseudomembranous colitis or acute pancreatitis may occur. If these symptoms arise, medication should be stopped immediately, and medical consultation is necessary. Liver function abnormalities have also been reported, and this is more common in elderly individuals over 60 years of age and in males, so regular liver function tests should be performed. Rarely, serious skin reactions or hypersensitivity reactions such as anaphylaxis may occur; if skin rashes, respiratory difficulties, or swelling of the face or neck develop, use of the medication should be discontinued immediately and emergency treatment sought. Blood tests may show abnormalities such as leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and hemolytic anemia, so if any unusual symptoms occur, testing should be undertaken. This medication can affect renal function, requiring regular monitoring in patients with kidney disease, and discontinuation may be necessary in severe cases. Moreover, disruptions in gut microbial balance can lead to candidiasis or stomatitis, necessitating appropriate action if symptoms arise. There is a potential for this medication to interact with other drugs, especially if the patient is taking anticoagulants, gout treatments, antibiotics, or anti-inflammatory drugs; therefore, it is important to inform the physician or pharmacist. Caution is also advised as the effectiveness of oral contraceptives may be reduced. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before taking this medication, particularly avoiding use during the first three months of pregnancy. During breastfeeding, diarrhea or allergic reactions may occur in infants, and use should cease if any adverse symptoms are noted. This medication is not recommended for children under 12 years old or weighing less than 40 kg, and elderly individuals should use it cautiously, adjusting the dosage and administration intervals due to increased risks of adverse reactions from diminished renal and liver function. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms, impaired renal function, and neurological symptoms may occur, so immediate medical attention is required for appropriate treatment. This medication should be stored in a dry place below 25 degrees Celsius, in a tightly closed container, as prolonged use may lead to the development of resistant bacteria and non-susceptible bacterial overgrowth, so it should only be taken for the necessary duration.
