Rotan Plus Tablet

Adult dose

The usual dose of this medication is 50 mg of losartan potassium / 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide, taken once daily as one tablet. A dosage exceeding 100 mg of losartan potassium / 25 mg of hydrochlorothiazide per day is not desirable. Patients whose blood pressure is not controlled by monotherapy with losartan or hydrochlorothiazide should start therapy with 50 mg of losartan potassium / 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide taken once daily.

Child dose

There is no experience with this medication in children and adolescents (under age 18), therefore the losartan-hydrochlorothiazide combination should not be administered to children and adolescents.

This medication can pose a serious risk of damage or death to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. It should not be administered to patients with allergies to this medication or its components, or those with certain renal and liver dysfunctions or electrolyte imbalances. Patients with low blood pressure, kidney problems, elderly individuals, or a history of certain skin cancers should use this medication cautiously, and regular blood tests and kidney function tests are necessary during treatment. Side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, skin rash, and cough may occur during the use of this medication, and if these symptoms become severe, immediate consultation with a healthcare provider is required. This medication can alter potassium levels, so potassium supplements or potassium-containing products should not be taken without consulting a physician. Caution is necessary while driving or operating machinery due to the risk of dizziness or drowsiness. Since there may be interactions with other medications, it is crucial to inform healthcare providers of any other medications being taken, especially during treatment with diuretics, antihypertensive agents, lithium preparations, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. There is no experience with this medication in children or adolescents, so it should not be administered to these groups. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept sealed in the original container.

Serious side effects

Hives, angioedema (swelling of lips and eyelids and facial rash), skin peeling, hemolysis, chest pain, facial swelling, angina, arrhythmia (atrial fibrillation, bradycardia, tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation), cerebrovascular accident, hypotension, myocardial infarction, secondary atrioventricular block, angioedema (laryngeal or glottic swelling that can cause airway obstruction, swelling of the face/lips/pharynx/tongue), vasculitis (Henoch-Schönlein purpura)

This medication is sensitive to light, so it should be stored in a tightly closed container that protects it from light. Additionally, storing it at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C is recommended.
