Relief of moderate to severe acute and chronic pain
This medication is used to relieve acute and chronic pain ranging from moderate to severe.
For children aged 12 years and older and adults: The dosage is adjusted based on the patient's level of pain and treatment response. It is recommended to start with a dose of 2 tablets, with subsequent intervals of at least 6 hours, ensuring not to exceed 8 tablets in a day. The lowest effective dose should be administered for the shortest duration possible. Ensure not to use this medication for an extended period unnecessarily; if prolonged use is required due to the nature and severity of the condition, regular monitoring should confirm whether to continue this medication. Elderly: Administer the usual adult dosage. However, for those aged 75 years and older, when tramadol is taken orally, the elimination half-life increases by 17%, so it is advised to administer this medication with intervals of at least 6 hours. Renal impaired patients: For moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance of 10-30ml/min), extend the dosing interval to 12 hours. For severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 10ml/min), administration is not recommended. Tramadol is removed very slowly during blood dialysis and filtration; therefore, there is no need to re-administer this medication after dialysis to maintain its analgesic effect. Hepatic impaired patients: For moderate hepatic impairment, considerations should be made to extend the dosing interval carefully. For severe hepatic impairment, the medication should not be administered.
Classified for children aged 12 years and older and adults, with no separate pediatric dosage specified.
This medication can cause liver damage in individuals who regularly consume more than three alcoholic beverages daily, so it is important to consult with a doctor or pharmacist. Due to the acetaminophen component, very rare severe skin reactions may occur, so if a rash or allergic symptoms develop, stop taking the medication immediately. The tramadol component may increase the risk of seizures if dosed above the recommended dose, and the risk may be further increased when used in combination with certain antidepressants or narcotics. Rarely, life-threatening anaphylaxis may occur while taking this medication, so if any allergic symptoms develop, notify medical personnel immediately. Patients with acute and severe bronchial asthma are at risk for severe respiratory suppression upon taking this medication, and it should only be used in an appropriately monitored setting. Caution should be exercised when taking this medication with alcohol or central nervous system depressants, as it may cause severe drowsiness, respiratory suppression, or coma. Patients with increased intracranial pressure or head injury should use this medication carefully, as symptoms may worsen. The tramadol component may cause mental and physical dependence, so long-term use should be considered with the risk of dependence. Patients with impaired liver function should consult a doctor before taking this medication and should avoid excessive dosing of acetaminophen. Especially, patients who are ultra-rapid metabolizers of CYP2D6 may produce the active metabolite quickly, increasing the risk of respiratory suppression; thus, dosage adjustment and monitoring are necessary. Children under 12 years old and those under 18 years who have undergone tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy should not be administered this medication, and caution should be taken for children aged 12 to 18 who have risk factors. Patients with sleep apnea or hypoxemia may experience worsened symptoms when taking this medication, requiring ongoing assessment and potential dosage adjustments. This medication can rarely cause hyponatremia, so especially elderly patients or those with risk factors should be observed for symptoms. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication or that have central nervous system drug dependence, severe respiratory suppression, head trauma, or those on MAO inhibitors should not take this medication. Pregnant or nursing women should only use this medication after careful consideration of its effects on the fetus or newborn, with a doctor's guidance. Caution is necessary when driving or operating machinery, as this medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Overdose may cause severe respiratory suppression, seizures, and liver damage; therefore, prescribed doses must be adhered to, and if overdose is suspected, medical assistance should be sought immediately. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and should be kept in a place where others cannot easily access it to prevent misuse or abuse.
