This medication helps relieve sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion caused by common cold, allergies, and vasomotor rhinitis. It effectively improves symptoms, reducing discomfort in daily life. Therefore, it is used for the relief of these rhinitis symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

Tablet: Take 1 tablet once, 3 times a day after meals. Capsule: Take 1 capsule once, 3 times a day after meals. Syrup: Take 10 mL once, 3 times a day after meals.

Child dose

Tablet: Children aged 12 to 14 take 1/2 tablet once, 3 times a day after meals. Capsule: Children aged 12 to 14 take 1/2 capsule once, 3 times a day after meals. Syrup: 12 years and older.

Precautions

This medication contains an ingredient called pseudoephedrine, which can cause severe rashes or pustules on the skin. If fever or numerous red spots and small pustules develop on the skin, you should stop taking this medication immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. Do not take this medication if you have a history of allergic reactions, severe liver or kidney problems, severe heart conditions, difficulty urinating, high blood pressure or coronary artery disease, are pregnant or possibly pregnant, are breastfeeding, are under 2 years of age, are taking certain medications, or have genetic issues such as lactose intolerance. During treatment with this medication, do not take other medications that may interact, such as blood pressure medication, alcohol, central nervous system depressants like sleeping pills or sedatives, and certain antidepressants. If you have taken a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor, at least 15 days must pass before taking this medication. Also, while taking this medication, it's best to avoid tasks that require concentration, such as driving or operating dangerous machinery. Those with asthma, glaucoma, heart disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and children under 12 should consult their doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. If symptoms do not improve within 7 days or if you have a high fever, stop taking this medication and consult a doctor. If symptoms such as sedation, drowsiness, anxiety, sweating, visual disturbances, hallucinations, muscle spasms, high fever, respiratory distress, or coma occur, stop taking it immediately and consult a specialist. If you experience unusual symptoms like skin allergic reactions, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, or difficulty urinating, stop taking the medication and seek advice. Special care is needed for children as they may exhibit excitatory symptoms. In case of overdose, serious symptoms such as hallucinations, convulsions, nervousness, dizziness, and insomnia may occur, which could require treatments such as gastric lavage or dialysis. Finally, store this medication out of the reach of children, away from direct sunlight, in a cool and dry place, and keep it tightly sealed. Transferring the medication to a different container from its original packaging may pose a risk of misuse or degradation of quality, so keep it in the original container.

Side effects and when to seek care immediately

Serious side effects

Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, oral/ocular mucosal pain, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, altered consciousness, visual disturbances, ischemic colitis symptoms (sudden abdominal pain, rectal bleeding), reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome and reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome symptoms (sudden severe headache, thunderclap headache, nausea, vomiting.

Mild side effects

Sedation, drowsiness, central nervous system depression, central nervous system excitement, anxiety, sweating, slight hypotension, visual disturbances, mydriasis, incoherence, hallucinations, excitement, muscle cramps, rigidity, athetosis, convulsions, high fever, respiratory paralysis, coma, circulatory failure, skin reactions, temporary irritation pain, burning sensation, thirst, nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal disorders, urinary difficulties, excitability in children, acute intoxication symptoms (hallucinations and convulsions), nervousness.

Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.

Interactions

Drug interactions

Do not take this medication with MAO inhibitors, antihypertensives, central nervous system depressants (sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers), sympathomimetics, tricyclic antidepressants, guanethidine, bretylium, betanidine, debrisoquine, methyldopa, sympathomimetic medications (decongestants, appetite suppressants, amphetamine-like stimulants), and alpha and beta adrenergic blockers (inhibitors).

Food interactions

Do not take this medication with alcohol.

Storage

This medication is light-sensitive and should be stored in a container that does not allow light in. Also, it must be placed in an airtight container with good air circulation and stored at room temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage helps maintain the effectiveness of the medication longer.
