Prevention of asthma and relief of allergic rhinitis symptoms
This medication helps to prevent asthma and manage it over the long term. It is also used to alleviate various symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis.
This medication should be taken once daily, in the evening for asthma patients, and the dosing time for allergic rhinitis patients varies according to their condition. Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take 1 tablet, 1 packet, or 1 sheet once daily in the evening. This medication should be administered 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals.
Children aged 2 to 5 years should chew 4 mg once daily of montelukast. This medication should be administered 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals.
This medication is used for the treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis. During treatment with this medication, neuropsychiatric symptoms may occur, therefore, consult a doctor immediately if there are changes such as restlessness, aggression, anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, hallucinations, or suicidal thoughts. This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, and its use should be limited in patients with phenylketonuria. Patients who are allergic to this medication or hypersensitive to any components should not use it. It is not suitable for the treatment of acute asthma attacks; an emergency inhaler should always be carried and used during acute symptoms. In cases of bronchospasm due to exercise, this medication should not be used alone; prescribed inhalers should be used together. Patients with hypersensitivity to aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should avoid using those medications while taking this drug. Various adverse reactions such as liver dysfunction, skin rashes, respiratory symptoms, and gastrointestinal symptoms may occur during the use of this medication, so consult a doctor if symptoms appear. It should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely necessary, and caution should also be exercised during breastfeeding. It can be used in children and the elderly, but safety and efficacy may vary according to age; therefore, follow the instructions of the doctor. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote available, so general treatment and monitoring are required. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and it is safer not to transfer it to another container. Always follow the doctor's instructions during treatment, and consult immediately if symptoms worsen or new symptoms arise.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), angioedema, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness, severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis), severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, severe skin reactions (toxic epidermal necrolysis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome), shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attack, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, breathing problems, yellowing of skin or eyes
