Precautions

This medication is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by destroying the cell walls of certain bacteria. Before using this medication, it is essential to check for any history of allergic reactions. It should not be administered to patients with known allergies to this medication or to cephalosporin antibiotics, or to those who have previously experienced severe shock. Patients with allergies to penicillin antibiotics or those with a predisposition to allergies such as asthma, rash, or urticaria should exercise caution. Patients with severe renal impairment, the elderly, or those with poor nutritional status may experience vitamin K deficiency symptoms while taking this medication, thus warranting careful monitoring. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders, especially colitis, should also be administered this medication with caution. This medication may rarely cause severe allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis, so if any unusual symptoms occur while taking it, the medication should be stopped immediately and healthcare professionals should be consulted. If there is severe rash, blistering, or mucosal damage, the medication should be discontinued immediately. Blood tests may reveal leukopenia, anemia, or thrombocytopenia, necessitating regular monitoring. As there may be liver or kidney function abnormalities, periodic tests for liver and kidney function are required. If severe colitis symptoms such as pseudomembranous colitis occur, the medication should be stopped immediately and treatment should be sought. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and heartburn may rarely occur as gastrointestinal symptoms. Respiratory issues such as cough, difficulty breathing, or pneumonia symptoms may develop, and any such symptoms should be reported to healthcare professionals immediately. Central nervous system symptoms such as anxiety, restlessness, dizziness, drowsiness, or hallucinations have been reported rarely, necessitating caution. Oral infections such as stomatitis or candidiasis may occur. Symptoms of vitamin K deficiency or vitamin B group deficiency may rarely appear, leading to bleeding tendencies. To prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria, this medication should only be administered for the appropriate duration based on susceptibility testing. When used in conjunction with other antibiotics, potential drug interactions may occur, and healthcare professionals should be informed and cautioned. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should only use this medication if absolutely necessary, and nursing mothers should use caution as well. It is advisable not to use this medication in newborns under one month old, as safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients may have decreased bodily function and a higher risk of adverse reactions, and dosing and intervals should be carefully adjusted during administration. Some urine tests may show false-positive reactions due to this medication, so care should be taken in the interpretation of test results.
