Relief of moderate to severe acute and chronic pain
This medication is used to relieve acute and chronic pain from moderate to severe levels.
For children over 12 years of age and adults: Dosage should be adjusted according to the level of pain and therapeutic response. It is recommended to administer an initial dosage of 2 tablets, at intervals of at least 6 hours thereafter, but not exceeding 8 tablets per day. The effective minimum dose should be administered for the shortest duration possible. Avoid prolonged use beyond what is necessary, and if long-term administration is required due to the nature and severity of the disease, regular monitoring should be conducted to determine whether to continue using this medication. Elderly: Use the usual adult dosage. However, for elderly patients aged 75 years and older, the half-life of tramadol when taken orally increases by 17%, so dosing should occur at intervals of at least 6 hours. Patients with renal impairment: In moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance of 10-30 mL/min), extend the dosing interval to 12 hours. In severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance below 10 mL/min), this medication is not recommended. Tramadol is eliminated very slowly during blood dialysis and filtration, so there is no need to redose this medication after dialysis to maintain analgesic effect. Patients with hepatic impairment: For patients with moderate hepatic impairment, dosing at extended intervals should be seriously considered. In cases of severe hepatic impairment, do not administer this medication.
This medication may cause liver damage if taken regularly by individuals who consume alcohol in excess of three drinks a day; consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is essential. While taking this medication, severe rash, pustules, and serious allergic reactions may occur, so if any of these symptoms appear, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a medical professional. The ingredients in this medication may increase the risk of seizures, so those with a history of seizures or a high risk of seizures should use this medication cautiously, especially if taken concurrently with certain antidepressants or opioid analgesics, as the risk of seizures may further increase. Rarely, life-threatening anaphylactic reactions may occur while taking this medication, so if allergy symptoms develop, notify medical personnel immediately. Patients with acute and severe bronchial asthma risk serious respiratory depression when taking this medication, so it should only be used in facilities equipped with professional medical equipment. Concurrent use of this medication with alcohol or benzodiazepine drugs should be avoided as it can lead to severe drowsiness, respiratory depression, coma, or even death. Patients with elevated intracranial pressure or head injury may experience worsening symptoms due to respiratory depression and increased brain pressure while taking this medication, so caution is required. This medication can cause mental and physical dependence, so the possibility of dependency should always be considered with prolonged use. Patients with impaired liver function may experience worsening liver damage due to the ingredients in this medication, so consultation with a doctor is mandatory before taking it. Certain genetically rapid metabolizers may face a higher risk of respiratory depression when taking this medication, necessitating dosage adjustments or the use of alternative medications. This medication should not be administered to children under 12 years of age or adolescents under 18 years old who have undergone tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy, and caution is required for some adolescents between 12 and 18 years old. This medication can induce sleep apnea and hypoxia, and the risk increases with higher doses, so symptoms must be continuously monitored. During the use of this medication, hyponatremia may occur, so elderly patients or those with related risk factors should have their blood sodium levels checked regularly. This medication should not be administered to specific patients and is contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity, central nervous system drug overdoses, severe respiratory depression, head trauma, or those taking MAO inhibitors. When taking this medication, do not exceed the recommended dosage, and avoid taking it with other acetaminophen or tramadol products. Sudden discontinuation during the course can cause withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, insomnia, nausea, tremors, etc., so dosages should be gradually reduced under a doctor's supervision. There are many interactions with this medication and other drugs, so particularly when taken with antidepressants, antibiotics, antifungals, central nervous system depressants, warfarin, etc., consultation with medical personnel and careful observation are required. Elderly patients may have impaired liver, kidney, or heart function, so they should be monitored more closely when administered this medication. Pregnant or breastfeeding women must consult a doctor before taking this medication, and breastfeeding should be avoided as this medication may be transmitted through breast milk, posing a risk of respiratory depression to the baby. This medication can cause drowsiness and dizziness, so caution is required when driving or operating machinery. In case of overdose, serious respiratory depression, seizures, liver damage, etc. may occur, and immediate visit to an emergency medical facility is necessary for appropriate treatment. This medication should be stored in a safe place out of reach of children, and caution should be taken to prevent misuse and accidental ingestion.
