Management of essential hypertension
This medication is used for the treatment of essential hypertension, administered to patients whose blood pressure is inadequately controlled with either telmisartan 80 mg and hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg as a single or combination therapy. The two ingredients work together to effectively lower and control blood pressure, thereby helping to manage it steadily and contributing to reducing the risk of complications associated with hypertension.
For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of telmisartan, take one tablet daily with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended to adjust the doses of each ingredient separately before switching to this fixed-dose combination. When clinically appropriate, direct conversion from monotherapy to this medication can also be considered. Telmisartan hydrochlorothiazide combination 40/12.5 mg can be administered to patients for whom telmisartan 40 mg does not adequately control blood pressure. Telmisartan hydrochlorothiazide combination 80/12.5 mg can be administered to patients for whom telmisartan 80 mg does not adequately control blood pressure. Telmisartan hydrochlorothiazide combination 80/25 mg can be administered to patients for whom blood pressure is not adequately controlled with a combination of telmisartan 80 mg and hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg as monotherapy or combination therapy. Sodium or blood volume depletion should be corrected before starting this medication. Patients with kidney impairment There is no need to adjust the dose for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. This medication should not be administered to patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <30 mL/min). Regular monitoring of kidney function is recommended. Patients with liver impairment Caution is required when administering to patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment. Dosage should not exceed 40/12.5 mg per day. This medication should not be administered to patients with severe liver impairment (see usage warnings 2). Thiazide diuretics should be administered with caution to patients with liver dysfunction. Elderly No dosage adjustment is necessary. Children The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in patients under 18 years of age.

This medication should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it can cause severe harm to the fetus or newborn; discontinuation should occur immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to the active ingredients or excipients or those with specific liver or kidney diseases should not use this medication. Elderly patients or those with high potassium levels, liver impairment, or heart valve abnormalities must use this medication cautiously. This medication may have various side effects, including dizziness, diarrhea, cough, skin rashes, etc.; if any unusual symptoms occur, consult the healthcare professional immediately. Especially, as this medication lowers blood pressure, excessive hypotension can increase the risk of myocardial infarction or stroke, necessitating regular monitoring of blood pressure control. This medication can interact with other antihypertensives, diuretics, lithium, potassium supplements, and so should be communicated to the physician for careful co-administration. Pregnant or lactating women should not take this medication, and alternatives should be considered if planning for pregnancy. In the case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, electrolyte imbalance, and dehydration may occur, requiring immediate medical attention. Safety for children has not been established, and use is not recommended in individuals under 18 years of age. Store this medication out of reach of children, keeping it sealed until use, and do not transfer to another container.
