View approved original text

This medicine is mainly used for the treatment of essential hypertension. It is also effective in patients with heart failure who are intolerant to ACE inhibitors, particularly those classified as NYHA class II to IV. It is utilized to reduce the risk of mortality in patients with left ventricular dysfunction or contractile dysfunction following myocardial infarction. Thus, it helps in managing hypertension, improving heart failure symptoms, and enhancing survival rates after myocardial infarction.

Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, therefore, it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Do not take if you have an allergy to this drug or its ingredients, if you are pregnant or may become pregnant, if you are nursing, if you have severe liver impairment, hereditary angioedema, or severe renal impairment. Caution is needed for elderly patients, patients with high potassium levels, mild to moderate liver impairment, heart valve disease, and patients with cardiovascular disease when using this medication. As this drug has a strong blood pressure-lowering effect, dizziness or fainting may occur due to sharp drops in blood pressure when starting treatment, particularly for patients with low fluids or sodium levels who should increase their dosage slowly. Patients undergoing hemodialysis or those on strict salt restrictions should be closely monitored when starting this drug. This drug may increase potassium levels, so potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements should be monitored closely. Additionally, taking this drug with certain non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may reduce its blood pressure-lowering effect or worsen renal function, so caution is warranted. This medication is not recommended for nursing women; if unavoidable, breastfeeding should be discontinued. Possible adverse effects include headache, dizziness, fatigue, cough, and gastrointestinal disturbances, while serious effects may involve angioedema, renal dysfunction, and hypotension, so consulting with healthcare professionals immediately upon symptoms is necessary. In cases of overdose, hypotension, decreased consciousness, and shock may be expected, requiring immediate emergency care; hemodialysis is ineffective. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients and adolescents are not established, so caution is required when used in this population. Lastly, this medication should be stored out of reach of children, and transferring to another container is not good for quality maintenance, so care should be taken.
