This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors, so mood or behavior changes must be closely monitored during treatment. Patients with allergies to pregabalin or any component of this medication, or those with certain genetic lactose-related disorders, should not take this medication. Diabetic patients should be cautious as weight gain may necessitate dosage adjustments of blood sugar control medications. If symptoms of angioedema occur, discontinue the medication immediately and consult with a healthcare professional. Older adults should be especially careful during initial treatment due to the increased risk of falls from side effects such as dizziness and drowsiness. Blurry vision or changes in vision may occur; these symptoms may improve after discontinuation of the medication. Suddenly stopping this medication after long-term use may lead to withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, headache, and anxiety. Patients with a history of substance abuse should be careful with potential misuse or dependence on this medication. Patients with impaired kidney function may require dosage adjustments. Patients with heart disease should also use caution when taking this medication. There is a risk of central nervous system depression when taken with opioid analgesics, so caution is advised. Patients with respiratory diseases, kidney disorders, or the elderly are at risk of severe respiratory depression, necessitating potential dosage adjustments. In early pregnancy, there may be a risk of fetal malformation, so use should be avoided, and women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception. Lactating women should consult their physician as this medication may be passed into breast milk, and nursing should be discontinued. When engaging in hazardous activities such as driving or operating machinery, caution is needed due to dizziness and drowsiness. Severe skin reactions may occur; monitor skin condition carefully and discontinue immediately if abnormalities arise. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness, confusion, and depression may occur, and treatments such as blood dialysis may be required if necessary.
