This medication is mainly used as an adjunct therapy in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia where diet and exercise alone are insufficient. It also assists in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia in combination with other therapies, such as LDL separation methods. It lowers total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels in patients with hypercholesterolemia, effectively slowing the progression of atherosclerosis. It is also used to reduce cholesterol levels in children with familial hypercholesterolemia, and serves as an adjunct treatment for patients with mixed dyslipidemia. It is especially helpful in high-risk patients with elevated high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels and cardiovascular disease risk factors to reduce the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and revascularization procedures. Thus, it is effectively used in the treatment of various dyslipidemias and cardiovascular risk patients.
