This medication can cause psychological and physical dependence, necessitating close monitoring for dependency when used over a long period. Patients with liver dysfunction must consult their doctor before use, as the acetaminophen component can burden the liver. Patients with certain genotypes may metabolize this medication rapidly, increasing the risk of respiratory depression; dose adjustments or alternative medications are recommended for such patients. This medication should not be administered to children under 12 years of age and should be avoided in adolescents aged 12 to 18 who have risk factors. This medication may worsen sleep apnea, so symptoms should be continuously monitored, and doses should be reduced or stopped if necessary. Elderly patients or those at risk for hyponatremia should closely observe for symptoms of hyponatremia while taking this medication. Individuals allergic to any of the components of this medication or those suffering from severe respiratory depression, central nervous system drug addiction, or severe liver, kidney, or heart disease should not take it. Sudden discontinuation of this medication can lead to withdrawal symptoms, so doses should be gradually reduced as directed by a physician. This medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness while driving or operating machinery, so caution is warranted.
