Relief of moderate to severe acute and chronic pain
This medication is used to relieve moderate to severe acute and chronic pain.
Children aged 12 years and older and adults: Dosage should be adjusted according to the level of pain and therapeutic response. An initial dose of 2 tablets is recommended, and afterward, the interval between doses should be at least 6 hours, but the total daily amount should not exceed 8 tablets. The effective minimum dose should be administered for the shortest duration possible. This medication should not be taken longer than necessary; if long-term administration is required due to the nature and severity of the disease, regular monitoring should be conducted to assess the continuation of this medication. Elderly Use the usual adult dosage. However, for elderly patients over 75 years, the elimination half-life of tramadol is increased by 17% when taken orally, so doses should be administered at least 6 hours apart. Renal Impairment For moderate renal impairment patients (creatinine clearance of 10-30 mL/min), the dosing interval should be extended to 12 hours. Severe renal impairment patients (creatinine clearance of less than 10 mL/min) should not be given this medication. Tramadol is removed very slowly during hemodialysis and filtration, so there is no need to re-administer this medication after dialysis to maintain analgesic effect. Hepatic Impairment For patients with moderate liver impairment, careful consideration should be given to extending the dosing interval. This medication should not be administered to patients with severe hepatic impairment.
Children aged 12 years and older and adults: Dosage should be adjusted according to the level of pain and therapeutic response. An initial dose of 2 tablets is recommended, and afterward, the interval between doses should be at least 6 hours, but the total daily amount should not exceed 8 tablets.
This medication may burden the liver, so individuals who regularly consume more than three drinks a day should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. If any abnormal reactions such as rash or itching occur during the use of this medication, discontinue use immediately and inform healthcare personnel. One of the ingredients in this medication, tramadol, may increase the risk of seizures if the prescribed dose is exceeded, so the established dosage must be strictly followed. Particularly for patients with epilepsy or a history of seizures, greater caution is needed when taking this medication, as the risk of seizures may increase when taken with certain other medications. Patients with severe respiratory diseases may face a risk of respiratory depression when taking this medication, so it should be administered in an environment where specialized medical personnel are present. Additionally, taking this medication with alcohol or benzodiazepines may lead to severe drowsiness, respiratory depression, and coma, so it is advisable not to combine them. Caution is required for patients with head injuries or elevated intracranial pressure, as this medication may worsen symptoms. This medication can lead to psychological and physical dependence, so long-term use should be closely monitored for signs of dependence. Patients with impaired liver function should consult with a doctor before taking this medication due to the potential for liver damage from acetaminophen, one of its active ingredients. Patients with certain genetic characteristics (CYP2D6 ultra-rapid metabolizers) may experience increased levels of the active metabolite, raising the risk of respiratory depression, so consultation with healthcare personnel is necessary. This medication should not be administered to children under 12 years of age or to adolescents under 18 years who have undergone tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy. This medication may induce sleep apnea or hypoxia; therefore, symptoms should be continuously monitored for any worsening. The elderly or patients with reduced kidney or liver function should be carefully monitored for adverse effects while taking this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking this medication, and it is safest for breastfeeding women to avoid its use. Drowsiness or dizziness may occur with this medication, so it is advisable to avoid engaging in potentially dangerous activities such as driving or operating machinery. Exceeding the prescribed dose may lead to severe respiratory depression, seizures, or liver damage, hence it is essential to adhere to the specified dosage. When taken alongside other medications, interactions may increase the risk of adverse effects, so all current medications should be disclosed to healthcare personnel. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
