Relief of itching associated with allergic rhinitis and skin disorders (eczema, dermatitis, etc.)
This medication is used to relieve itching associated with allergic rhinitis and urticaria in both adults and children. In particular, it is effective for itching caused by eczema, dermatitis, urticaria, prurigo, and chronic psoriasis in adults. It helps improve itching in children due to eczema, dermatitis, and pruritus. This drug reduces discomfort from allergies and skin diseases, contributing to improved quality of life. Therefore, it is effectively used for alleviating symptoms of allergic rhinitis and itching.
For average adults, 5mg of Olopatadine Hydrochloride should be taken orally twice a day (morning and before bedtime). Dosage may be adjusted appropriately according to age and symptoms.
Children over 10 years old should take 5mg of Olopatadine Hydrochloride orally twice a day (morning and before bedtime).
This medication contains lactose and should not be used by patients with genetic disorders that prevent the digestion of lactose. Patients with impaired kidney function, the elderly, and those with liver function issues should use this medication with extra caution as there may be an exacerbation of liver function. This medication contains the dye Tartrazine (Yellow No. 5), so patients allergic to this component should be careful when using it. Side effects such as drowsiness, liver function abnormalities, fatigue, dry mouth, and abdominal pain may occur while taking this medication, and if any abnormal symptoms arise, medical consultation should be sought immediately. Serious side effects, such as hepatitis, liver function impairment, and jaundice, may occur infrequently, thus monitoring liver function status carefully during treatment is necessary. Since drowsiness may occur, it is safe to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. Patients undergoing long-term steroid treatment should carefully adjust their steroid dosage when using this medication. Patients with seasonal allergies may find it effective to take this medication before symptoms onset. If no effect is deemed to occur, avoid long-term use and consult with healthcare professionals. Pregnant women or those capable of becoming pregnant should consult a doctor before taking this medication, and nursing mothers should preferably avoid using this medication or discontinue breastfeeding. Safety has not been adequately confirmed for children under 10 years old, newborns, or low birth weight infants, thus caution is required. Elderly individuals should start with a lower dose and monitor their condition closely due to potentially increased side effects related to diminished bodily function. It is advisable not to administer this medication prior to allergy reaction tests, and it should be stored out of reach of children. Transferring this medication to other containers may cause a deterioration in quality, so it is safest to keep it in its original container.
