This medication works by binding to specific proteins to inhibit bacterial cell wall synthesis, thereby killing bacteria. It should not be used in patients who have previously had severe allergic reactions or shock due to this medication. Patients allergic to this drug or similar class antibiotics should also refrain from its use. Patients with a history of penicillin allergy or those with a tendency for allergic reactions (asthma, skin rash) in themselves or their family should use it cautiously. Patients with severely impaired renal function, those unable to take the medicine properly, elderly patients, and those in poor general condition may present symptoms of vitamin K deficiency and should be monitored carefully. Caution should be taken for patients with gastrointestinal diseases, especially those with a history of colitis. This drug can rarely cause shock or severe allergic reactions, so symptoms should be closely monitored during administration, and if abnormal symptoms appear, its use should be immediately discontinued and appropriate treatment sought. Serious reactions to the skin, such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis, may occur, so skin condition should be carefully monitored. Abnormalities in blood cell counts may occur, requiring regular blood tests and discontinuation of treatment if abnormalities arise. It may affect liver function, requiring cessation of treatment if liver enzyme levels increase or jaundice appears. It can also affect kidney function, necessitating regular kidney tests and discontinuation if abnormalities are found. Severe colitis, such as pseudomembranous colitis, may occur, requiring immediate cessation of the drug if abdominal pain, bloody diarrhea, or diarrhea appears. If respiratory symptoms occur, the use should also be discontinued and appropriate treatment should be given. Rarely, it may affect the central nervous system, causing symptoms such as agitation, anxiety, dizziness, and hallucinations. Fungal overgrowth such as oral inflammation or candidiasis may also occur. Symptoms of vitamin K and B deficiency may rarely appear, so nutritional status should be well managed. Headaches, genital itching, and vaginitis are potential side effects. To prevent the development of resistant bacteria, sensitivity testing should be conducted, and it is advisable to administer for only the minimum necessary duration. When taking this drug with other medications, there may be interactions, so consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is essential. Particularly caution is needed when used with medications affecting the kidneys, anticoagulants, and oral contraceptives. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication cautiously, and caution is also advised for nursing mothers as the drug may be transmitted to breast milk. It is advisable not to use this medication in newborns or infants under one month, as safety has not been established. Elderly patients may have reduced physiological function making them more susceptible to side effects, and the risk of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency increases, thus requiring careful administration.
