Relief of moderate to severe acute and chronic pain
This medication is used to relieve acute and chronic pain ranging from moderate to severe.
Pediatric patients aged 12 years and older and adults: The dosage should be adjusted according to the patient's pain level and therapeutic response. The initial recommended dose is 2 tablets, and subsequent doses should be spaced at least 6 hours apart but should not exceed 8 tablets per day. The lowest effective dose should be used for as short a time as possible. Avoid prolonged use beyond necessity, and if long-term use is required due to the nature and severity of the condition, regular monitoring should be conducted to assess whether continued use of this medication is needed. Elderly Administer the usual adult dosage. However, in elderly patients aged 75 years or older, the half-life of tramadol increased by 17% when taken orally; therefore, this medication should be administered at intervals of at least 6 hours. Patients with Renal Impairment In moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance of 10-30 mL/min), the dosing interval should be extended to 12 hours. In severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance below 10 mL/min), use is not recommended. Tramadol is eliminated very slowly during hemodialysis and filtration, thus re-administration of this medication post-dialysis is not necessary for maintaining analgesic effect. Patients with Hepatic Impairment In moderate hepatic impairment, careful consideration should be given to extending the dosing interval. In severe hepatic impairment, this medication should not be administered.
Pediatric patients aged 12 years and older and adults: The dosage should be adjusted according to the patient's pain level and therapeutic response. The initial recommended dose is 2 tablets, and subsequent doses should be spaced at least 6 hours apart but should not exceed 8 tablets per day.
This medication may cause liver damage if taken by individuals who regularly consume more than three glasses of alcohol a day; therefore, consultation with a healthcare provider or pharmacist is essential. If allergic symptoms such as rash or itching occur during the use of this medication, you should discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Tramadol, the main ingredient in this medication, can cause seizures; therefore, caution should be exercised in patients with a history of seizures or those at risk of seizures. In patients with severe asthma, use of this medication may cause severe respiratory suppression, so it should only be administered under medical supervision. Taking this medication with alcohol or central nervous system depressants such as benzodiazepines can lead to severe drowsiness, respiratory suppression, or coma, and should be avoided. Patients with elevated intracranial pressure or head injuries should exercise caution when taking this medication, as it may worsen symptoms due to respiratory suppression and increased brain pressure. Tramadol can be addictive, so long-term use should be monitored closely for signs of dependency. Patients with impaired liver function are at risk of liver damage, so they should consult a healthcare provider before use. Patients who metabolize this medication rapidly may experience excessive effects, leading to increased risk of respiratory suppression, thus requiring dose adjustments and monitoring. This medication should not be administered to children under 12 years of age or to specific post-operative pediatric patients, and use should be avoided for adolescents aged 12 to 18 if there are risk factors. This medication may induce obstructive sleep apnea and hypoxia, so symptoms should be regularly checked, and dosage should be adjusted or discontinued if symptoms worsen. Patients at risk of hyponatremia, especially the elderly or those taking related medications, should have their sodium levels monitored periodically. Individuals allergic to any component of this medication, those in severe respiratory depression states, patients with central nervous system drug toxicity, or those with severe liver, kidney, or heart disorders should not be administered this medication. Pregnant or breastfeeding women must consult with a healthcare professional before taking this medication, especially since it can be transmitted to the infant through breast milk and may pose risks. Caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery as drowsiness or dizziness may occur due to taking this medication. In case of overdose, serious side effects such as respiratory suppression, seizures, or liver damage may occur; therefore, prescribed doses should be strictly followed, and immediate medical attention is required if overdose is suspected. This medication should be stored in a safe place out of the reach of children, and care should be taken to prevent misuse.
