This medicine is used in adults to treat dermatophyte infections such as tinea pedis, tinea corporis, and tinea cruris caused by dermatophytes, as well as onychomycosis. It is also effective for the treatment of tinea capitis in children. In other words, it is used to treat various skin and nail fungal infections.
As terbinafine, administer 125 mg once, 2 times a day or 250 mg once a day. The duration of administration depends on the condition being treated as follows: 1) Dermatophyte infections. Tinea pedis (interdigital type, plantar type/moccasin type): 2-6 weeks; tinea corporis: 2-4 weeks; tinea cruris: 2-4 weeks. 2) Onychomycosis: usually administered for 6 weeks to 3 months. In cases where the infection is in the toenails or a relatively small toe, or if the patient is young, the treatment period may be shortened to less than 3 months. The treatment period for toenail infections is usually sufficient for 3 months, but in some patients, it may take 6 months or more. In cases where the toenail growth rate is slow, the treatment period may be prolonged.
