Treatment of respiratory and urogenital infections
This medication is effective against various types of bacteria and is used for respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, lobar and bronchial pneumonia, empyema, lung abscess, tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media. It is also effective for urinary tract infections such as cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, as well as for treating pelvic inflammatory disease and sexually transmitted diseases like gonorrhea. Additionally, it can be used for treating skin boils, abscesses, soft tissue infections, and wound infections, and it is applicable in cases of osteomyelitis and dental infections. This medication shows therapeutic effectiveness against a wide range of bacteria and is utilized for treating various infections.
The dosage of this medicine should be adjusted based on the patient's age, weight, and renal function as well as the severity of the infection. Adults and children aged 12 years or older or weighing 40 kg or more are to take Amoxicillin/Potassium Clavulanate 1 dose of 250 mg/125 mg orally 3 times a day every 8 hours. In cases of severe and respiratory infections, the dose may be increased to 500 mg/125 mg. If there is renal impairment, the dosage should be adjusted based on creatinine clearance.
For children aged 12 years or older or weighing 40 kg or more, the dosage is the same as for adults: 1 dose of 250 mg/125 mg taken orally 3 times a day every 8 hours. In cases of severe and respiratory infections, a dose of 500 mg/125 mg should be administered.
This medicine is a beta-lactam antibiotic belonging to the penicillin class and should not be administered to patients with a history of specific allergies. In particular, it should not be used in patients who have previously shown hypersensitivity to this drug or to beta-lactam antibiotics, patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia, and those who have had liver dysfunction or jaundice due to this drug or penicillin. Patients with impaired liver function or moderate to severe kidney dysfunction should be administered this drug with caution, and dosage or dosing intervals should be adjusted as necessary. Patients with allergies, those who have difficulty taking orally, elderly patients, or those in poor overall condition also require caution. While taking this medicine, unusual symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, rash, or difficulty breathing may occur, and immediate consultation with healthcare personnel is necessary if such symptoms arise. Additionally, liver dysfunction, blood abnormalities, kidney dysfunction, and central nervous system symptoms may occur rarely, so regular testing is recommended. To prevent the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, it is essential to adhere to the duration and dosage recommended by the physician, and more caution is necessary for long-term administration. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if you are currently taking any other medications, you must inform your healthcare personnel. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a physician before administration of this drug, and it is advisable to avoid administration during the first three months of pregnancy. It is not recommended for children, especially those under 12 years of age or weighing less than 40 kg. Elderly patients may show more adverse reactions due to decreased bodily functions, so dosage and dosing intervals should be adjusted and carefully monitored. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms, kidney damage, or central nervous system symptoms may appear, so immediate medical attention is required. This medication should be stored in a dry place below 25 degrees Celsius and should be taken exactly as directed by a physician.
