Precautions

This medication should not be used by individuals who are allergic to this drug or its components, or have had hypersensitivity reactions to similar medications. Caution is needed when using this drug in patients with impaired kidney function, as psychological side effects may commonly occur. Patients with compromised liver function should be careful as the liver condition may deteriorate further. Particularly cautious use is required in children and the elderly. Rarely, serious allergic reactions such as anaphylactic shock may occur while using this medication, so if symptoms like low blood pressure, difficulty breathing, or chest tightness arise, the medication should be discontinued immediately and medical help sought. Symptoms such as photosensitivity reactions, rash, fever, blisters, and urticaria may occur on the skin, so if such symptoms develop, the medication should be stopped and the doctor consulted. Alopecia, severe dermatitis, and inflammation of the mucous membranes may also occur, so careful observation of the skin condition is important. This drug can cause various neurological symptoms such as confusion, decreased concentration, anxiety, hallucinations, seizures, drowsiness, tremors; these symptoms may occur more frequently in the elderly or those with impaired kidney function. Regular kidney function tests are recommended as kidney issues may arise. Blood-related abnormalities have also been reported, including leukopenia, bleeding, and anemia, so blood tests may be necessary. Liver function abnormalities, jaundice, and hepatitis symptoms may also develop, so close monitoring of liver health is essential. Gastrointestinal disturbances may occur, so if symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain arise, inform a doctor. Adequate hydration should be maintained to prevent dehydration and reduce kidney burden while taking this medication. If symptoms do not improve or worsen during treatment, alternative therapies should be considered. Since this drug is primarily excreted through the kidneys, elderly patients with reduced kidney function may need dosage adjustments and should be especially cautious about dehydration. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consider the risks and benefits of using this medication, and it is safer to discontinue breastfeeding during treatment. In children or infants, this medication should only be used in minimal doses when absolutely necessary, and its safety in newborns or low birth weight infants has not been fully established. Overdosage may lead to neurological abnormalities and kidney damage; if overdosage is suspected, seek immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment. This medication may interact with other drugs, so inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medications being taken. Caution is needed when engaging in hazardous activities like driving or operating machinery as consciousness disturbances may occur.
