View approved original textHide original text
This medication provides necessary water, electrolytes, amino acids, and calories to patients when oral or gastrointestinal nutrition is not possible. It plays an important therapeutic role in maintaining normal metabolism and supplementing physical strength.
How it is given
Adult administration
The maximum dosage is 1–1.5 g per day per kg of body weight as total amino acids. The infusion rate should not exceed 1.0 mL/kg per hour (equivalent to 0.25 g/kg of glucose, 0.05 g/kg of amino acids). It is preferable to administer it by continuous drip over 12–24 hours via a central vein, and this medication should be administered via a central vein as a principle.
Child administration
In children, the dosage and infusion rate should be adjusted appropriately.
Precautions
This medication should only be used according to a doctor's instructions. When used with calcium-containing drugs via intravenous route, care should be taken to avoid mixing with ceftriaxone, and the same infusion device should not be used simultaneously. This medication should not be administered to patients with allergies to egg or soy protein, or certain diseases such as hypernatremia, hyperchloremia, or hyperkalemia. Special caution is necessary for patients with heart disease, renal or liver dysfunction, severe dehydration, or severe blood coagulation disorders when using this medication. Patients sensitive to sulfite components, particularly those with asthma, should be cautious as allergic reactions or asthma attacks may occur. During administration, blood glucose, electrolyte levels, and liver and kidney function should be monitored regularly, and any abnormal symptoms should be reported to healthcare providers immediately. High blood sugar, acidosis, edema, liver function abnormalities, allergic reactions, gastrointestinal symptoms, etc., may occur, so symptoms should be carefully observed. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, the safety of this medication is not fully established, so it should be administered cautiously based on a doctor’s judgment. In children, especially infants under the age of 2, the safety is not established, and it is advisable not to use it. Elderly patients may have decreased body function, so the infusion rate should be slow, and the dosage should be adjusted. In the case of overdose, treatments like blood dialysis may be needed, and careful attention should be paid to dosage and infusion rate adjustments. This medication should be administered slowly via central vein and should not be infused through peripheral veins. Maintain sterile conditions during administration, and do not use if the solution is discolored or the packaging is damaged. Store unopened at room temperature, avoiding freezing. During the administration of this medication, the patient’s condition should be closely monitored, and necessary tests should be conducted to ensure safety.
