View approved original text

This medication is used as a peritoneal dialysis fluid for patients with acute and chronic renal failure. Additionally, it is also used to assist in detoxification in cases of drug overdose where other treatment methods are ineffective. It helps alleviate discomfort caused by low pH that can occur when using lactate-based dialysis solutions. In summary, it is effectively used for dialysis treatment of various renal failure patients and detoxification from drug overdoses.

How it is given

Adult administration

For intra-abdominal administration only, this is not for intravenous use. For adults, inject 2.0 to 2.5L intra-abdominally in one instance. Continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) is performed 4 times per day, while automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) is carried out 4 to 5 cycles at night, with a maximum of 2 times during the day.

Precautions

This medication is a dialysis solution used for peritoneal dialysis, and it is used to remove waste products and excess fluid from the body through the peritoneum. Caution must be exercised when using this medication, as prematurely discontinuing peritoneal dialysis could pose a life-threatening risk if renal replacement therapy is not administered. This medication should not be administered to patients with specific diseases such as diaphragmatic hernia, abdominal burns, or severe peritoneal adhesions, as it may cause breathing difficulties, treatment obstruction, or decreased dialysis efficiency. Patients with bleeding disorders other than uremia, lactate metabolism disorders, severe electrolyte abnormalities, recent abdominal surgeries, or inflammation should also avoid using this medication. Moreover, patients at high risk for infections, patients with impaired peritoneal function, and mentally or physically incapable patients of performing peritoneal dialysis should use this medication with caution. Patients taking digitalis preparations or suspected of having glucose metabolism disorders should regularly check their blood potassium and blood sugar levels, and those on diuretics, pregnant women, or those with peritonitis should also be administered with care. This medication may cause various adverse reactions, including peritonitis, abdominal pain, electrolyte imbalances, metabolic abnormalities, respiratory, and cardiovascular symptoms, so the patient's condition should be closely monitored during administration. Maintaining cleanliness and sterile handling of the peritoneal dialysis fluid is extremely important, and the transparency and drained volume of the dialysis fluid should always be checked for signs of peritonitis. This medication contains dextrose, thus patients with corn allergies should use it cautiously, and those requiring blood sugar control need monitoring and treatment adjustments. In cases of overdose, dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, hyperglycemia, etc. may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention, and excessive infusion of the dialysis fluid should be removed by drainage. The dialysis fluid should be used as provided in its container and should not be used if the container is damaged or if the solution has changed color or become cloudy. Peritoneal dialysis must be performed under medical supervision, and adequate training and supervision are essential for self-administration. During the use of this medication, factors such as weight, nutritional status, and blood tests should be regularly monitored to ensure proper treatment. Special caution is needed for elderly and pediatric patients, with dosage adjustments required for children.
