Summary
- Main use
- Treatment and prevention of blood volume reduction, effective in blood dilution therapy
- Who receives it
- Adults
- Adult administration
- Administered via intravenous drip; initially, 10 to 20 mL should be slowly administered while closely monitoring the patient. The daily dosage and infusion rate are determined by the patient's blood loss amount, maintenance or restoration of hemodynamic parameters, and blood dilution. Repeated administration may occur over several days based on the patient's condition, and the duration of administration is determined by the persistent duration and degree of reduced blood volume, hemodynamic effects, and blood dilution. The maximum daily dose is calculated per kg of body weight.

This medication is used only when other alternative therapies are not appropriate and is primarily utilized for the treatment and prevention of reduced blood volume. It is also used in rapid volume blood dilution therapy (ANH) to help stabilize the patient's condition.
How it is given
Adult administration
Administered via intravenous drip; initially, 10 to 20 mL should be slowly administered while closely monitoring the patient.
Precautions
This medication can increase the risk of mortality, kidney damage, and excessive bleeding, thus it should only be used when other treatment methods are not appropriate. It should not be administered to patients with sepsis, kidney damage, or severe conditions, and should be carefully evaluated in patients with reduced blood volume at risk for kidney damage or liver function abnormalities. Particularly, it should be administered with caution in patients with heart failure, liver disease, blood coagulation disorders, severe dehydration, and corn allergies, and may be contraindicated in some patients. Rarely, allergic reactions, rashes, or itching may occur upon administration, and if symptoms arise, administration should be stopped immediately, and emergency treatment should be sought. Due to its potential effects on blood coagulation, caution is necessary with large doses. Overdosage may lead to circulatory overload, so managing dosing and infusion speed is important. During administration, electrolyte levels in the blood, kidney function, and fluid status should be regularly monitored for abnormalities. During pregnancy, administration should be considered only when necessary due to potential risks to the fetus, and for breastfeeding patients, caution is advised due to insufficient safety data. When administering to children, dosing should be adjusted based on weight and condition, particularly in premature infants or newborns, as risks and benefits should be carefully evaluated. This medication should not be mixed with other drugs, and any remaining solution must be discarded after opening. When storing, keep out of reach of children and store below 25°C without freezing.
