This drug is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be administered to patients with allergies to penicillin or cephalosporin drugs. In particular, caution is needed in patients with viral infections like infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia due to a higher risk of rash. Patients with liver or kidney problems may have increased drug concentration, necessitating adjustment of dosage and administration intervals. Individuals with allergic predisposition should use it carefully as symptoms like urticaria, rash, and asthma may worsen. Patients with gastrointestinal abnormalities and severe vomiting or diarrhea may not absorb the drug properly. This drug may cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain, and in severe cases, may lead to severe colitis like pseudomembranous colitis, necessitating immediate cessation of the drug upon symptom onset. Liver function abnormalities may elevate liver enzyme levels in blood or, rarely, cause hepatitis and jaundice, especially more frequently in elderly and male patients. Serious skin reactions, such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, may occur, requiring immediate discontinuation if any abnormal symptoms arise. Regular blood tests are necessary as leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, or anemia may occur. It may affect the central nervous system, causing anxiety, drowsiness, headache, and in severe cases, seizures, requiring consultation with a doctor if neurological symptoms appear. Patients with kidney problems may develop acute renal failure or nephritis, thus renal function should be closely monitored before and after administration. Fungal infections like candidiasis may occur due to antibiotic use, so patients should inform if there are abnormalities in the oral or genital areas. This medication may cause vitamin K deficiency, so patients with bleeding tendencies should be cautious. Long-term use may lead to resistant bacteria, highlighting the importance of administering only for the necessary period. Allergic reactions or anaphylactic shock are very rare but may occur, so patient condition should be closely monitored after administration. The risk of antibiotic-associated pseudomembranous colitis is present, requiring immediate cessation of the drug and consultation with a doctor if severe diarrhea or abdominal pain occurs. It may interact with other medications, so patients should inform of any concurrent medications, especially when taken with anticoagulants or diuretics. Administration should be avoided in early pregnancy, and pregnant or breastfeeding women should use it only after consulting with a doctor, as adverse effects may appear in infants during breastfeeding. It is not recommended for children under 12 years of age or those weighing less than 40 kg. Elderly patients may exhibit adverse effects more easily due to diminished physical function, requiring careful dosage and interval adjustments. This medication may affect some clinical test results, such as urine tests, so patients should inform about taking it during examinations. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms, renal failure, or seizures may occur, requiring immediate cessation and appropriate treatment.
