Precautions
This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to specific components or beta-lactam antibiotics. Special caution is required for individuals who have previously experienced severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, or shock. Patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia should avoid this medication as it may increase the risk of rash. Patients with liver function problems or those who have previously experienced jaundice or liver impairment due to this medication or penicillin should refrain from its use due to the risk of recurrence. Patients with reduced liver function should use it cautiously as the medication may impose a burden on the liver. In patients with moderate to severe renal impairment, the dosage interval should be adjusted to avoid increased drug concentration. Individuals with allergies or a family history of allergies should be cautious of allergic reactions when using this medication. In patients who have difficulty taking it orally, elderly patients, or those with poor overall condition, caution is advised due to the risk of bleeding related to vitamin K deficiency. Patients with gastrointestinal disorders resulting in vomiting or diarrhea may experience insufficient drug absorption, requiring caution. This medication may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting, with severe cases potentially leading to serious conditions like acute pancreatitis or pseudomembranous colitis; therefore, usage should be discontinued if such symptoms arise. Liver function abnormalities may occur rarely, so regular liver function tests during treatment are advisable. If skin rash, itching, or severe skin reactions occur, discontinue the use of the drug immediately and follow medical advice. Blood anomalies may also be reported rarely; if bleeding or anemia symptoms arise, consult healthcare professionals. Central nervous system side effects may include headaches, dizziness, and seizures; report any abnormal symptoms promptly. Regular kidney function tests are necessary as this medication may affect kidney function, and if abnormalities are found, discontinuation is required. Prolonged use may lead to the development of resistant bacteria, so it should only be used for the necessary duration; careful observation is required for use beyond 14 days. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant are advised to avoid this medication, especially during the first three months of pregnancy, and breastfeeding mothers should take care as side effects may appear in infants. Safety in premature infants or newborns has not been established, so use should be avoided. The elderly are at a higher risk of side effects due to decreased kidney and liver function; thus, dosages and intervals should be adjusted and used cautiously. This medication may interact with other drugs, so it is essential to inform healthcare professionals of any medications being taken, particularly with anticoagulants or certain antibiotics. In cases of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms or central nervous system issues may arise, requiring immediate medical attention for proper treatment. The syrup should be stored in a sealed container to avoid exposure to air and moisture, with a suitable storage temperature between 1 and 25 degrees Celsius. Proper storage helps maintain the effect of the medication for safe use.
