Treatment of inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis
This medication is primarily used for rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease), ankylosing spondylitis, tendonitis, acute gout, and dysmenorrhea. It is also effective for various pains and inflammatory conditions such as bursitis, musculoskeletal disorders (sprains, strains, trauma, low back pain), postoperative pain, migraine, and post-extraction pain. This drug helps alleviate inflammation and pain, improving patients' daily lives.
1. Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis Adults should take 275-550mg of naproxen sodium orally, twice a day (every 12 hours). 2. Acute gout Adults should take an initial dose of 825mg of naproxen sodium orally, followed by 275mg every 8 hours until the attack subsides. 3. Musculoskeletal disorders, postoperative pain, post-extraction pain, dysmenorrhea, tendonitis, bursitis Adults should take an initial dose of 550mg of naproxen sodium orally, followed by 275mg every 6-8 hours, ensuring the daily total does not exceed 1350mg. 4. Migraine Adults should take an initial dose of 825mg of naproxen sodium orally. Additional doses of 275-550mg can be administered if necessary, to be taken 30 minutes after the initial dose. Ensure the total daily dose does not exceed 1350mg. Adjust according to age and symptoms.
This medication may cause gastrointestinal bleeding if taken by individuals who regularly consume more than three glasses of alcohol daily, so it is essential to consult a doctor or pharmacist. This medication can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, so patients with a history of heart disease or stroke or those with risk factors should exercise considerable caution. If cardiovascular symptoms occur, contact medical personnel immediately. This medication can cause serious gastrointestinal side effects such as gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, and perforation, and special care should be taken by elderly patients or those with a history of gastrointestinal disease. If gastrointestinal-related symptoms occur while taking this medication, immediate treatment is necessary. Patients with peptic ulcer disease, severe blood disorders, liver impairment, heart failure, kidney impairment, hypertension, or allergies to this medication's ingredients should not take this medication. Additionally, patients who have experienced allergic reactions to aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should also not use this medication. Individuals with a history of peptic ulcers, blood disorders, bleeding tendencies, liver or kidney impairment, heart function impairment, hypertension, allergy history, asthma, autoimmune diseases, and the elderly should take this medication with caution. While taking this medication, various side effects such as rarely occurring shortness of breath, blood pressure drop, hives, gastrointestinal bleeding, blood disorders, liver or kidney dysfunction, neurological issues, and skin rashes may occur. Discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider if any unusual symptoms appear. This medication should be taken at the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary, and long-term use requires regular blood tests and liver and kidney function tests. Combining this medication with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or certain medications may increase the risk of side effects, so consult medical personnel about any co-administration. During pregnancy, especially in late pregnancy, it may pose risks to the fetus, so it should be avoided; women who may become pregnant should use this medication with caution. Since this medication can be excreted in breast milk and affect newborns, it is best for nursing women to avoid it. It is advisable not to use this medication in infants under 2 years of age due to the lack of established safety; children and the elderly should use it cautiously at the minimum effective dose. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness, indigestion, vomiting may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought.
Occasionally, symptoms such as discomfort in the stomach area, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dyspepsia, heartburn, diarrhea, constipation, stomatitis, abdominal bloating, dark stools, thirst, rash, itching, purpura, tinnitus, auditory impairment, visual impairment, palpitations, fatigue, menstrual disorders, chills and fever, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, drowsiness, cognitive dysfunction, dizziness, headache, tingling in hands and feet, decreased libido, fatigue, depression, abnormal dreams, loss of concentration, disorientation may occur.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should not be taken with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, naproxen derivatives, or high doses of methotrexate. Avoid using with phenytoin anticonvulsants, sulfonamides, sulfonylurea hypoglycemic agents, propranolol and other beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, loop diuretics and thiazide diuretics, probenecid, aspirin, lithium, low-dose methotrexate, coumarin anticoagulants, zidovudine, and fluoroquinolone antibiotics.
This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to avoid exposure to air or moisture. The best storage temperature is between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius (room temperature).
