Precautions

This medication should always be used according to a doctor's instructions. It should not be used in patients who are in a state of hepatic coma or at risk for it. Patients with severe kidney dysfunction or high blood nitrogen levels should also not receive this medication. Patients with nitrogen metabolism issues, severe heart failure, and pulmonary edema should avoid using this medication. Patients with very low or absent urine output should also not receive it. Patients with abnormally high blood sodium or chloride levels should be cautious due to potential issues caused by the ions included in this medication. Patients in a state of severe acidosis, those with congestive heart failure, edema due to sodium retention, and those with hyperkalemia should use this medication cautiously. Special caution is needed when administering to patients with impaired liver or kidney function. This medication contains sodium bisulfite, which can cause severe allergic reactions in individuals allergic to sulfites, particularly asthmatics, so care should be taken. If a rash or other hypersensitivity reactions occur while using this medication, administration should be stopped immediately. Symptoms like nausea, vomiting, chest discomfort, palpitations, and increased blood pressure may occur. Rapid administration in large volumes can lead to acidosis, so caution is advised. Serious side effects like chills, fever, headache, and difficulty breathing may rarely occur. Metabolic abnormalities can lead to increased blood sugar, electrolyte imbalances, and vitamin deficiencies, especially in patients with weakened liver or kidney function who need to have their condition checked frequently with blood tests. Electrolyte balance should be well monitored when administering large amounts of this medication or using it in conjunction with electrolyte-containing solutions. Excess dosing may lead to metabolic alkalosis, so this should be monitored. Patients with heart, lung, or kidney diseases should control the speed and amount of administration to prevent complications from fluid overload. Diabetic patients should measure their blood sugar frequently while using this medication. This medication may reduce the efficacy when used with certain antibiotics; therefore, consult a doctor before co-administration. Pregnant women should use this medication only under a doctor's judgment since its safety has not been established. Children may have immature liver function, so it should be administered in lower concentrations and blood ammonia levels should be checked frequently. Elderly patients may have decreased physiological function; therefore, administration speed should be slower and dosages adjusted. This medication contains electrolytes, and rapid infusion can result in chills or vomiting; thus, it should be slowly administered intravenously. During the preparation and management of infusion solutions, strict aseptic techniques should be maintained to reduce infection risks. If the solution is discolored or cloudy, do not use it, and adhere to specified storage temperatures and durations. Before use, carefully check the condition of the container, and do not administer if it is damaged.
