Improvement of hypoproteinemia and undernutrition
Amino acid supplementation is needed in cases of hypoproteinemia, undernutrition, and conditions such as pre- and post-surgery. In these situations, the body does not receive sufficient protein, so providing amino acids helps promote protein synthesis in the body, improves nutritional status, and aids recovery. Therefore, amino acid supplementation is used for hypoproteinemia, undernutrition, and pre- and post-operative states.
For peripheral venous administration, slowly infuse 200 to 400 mL intravenously per dose. The infusion rate should be based on administering 200 mL over 120 minutes, with the amount of amino acids around 10 g per hour being desirable for body utilization. For central venous administration, continuously infuse 400 to 800 mL per day via high-calorie fluid method. It is preferable to administer with saccharide fluid solutions.
For peripheral venous administration, children, elderly patients, and severely ill patients should be infused slowly. In central venous administration, dosage and infusion rates should be adjusted appropriately for children, elderly patients, and burn patients with high protein needs.
This medication must be used strictly under the direction of a physician and should not be taken or discontinued arbitrarily. Patients with hepatic coma or at risk of hepatic coma, severely impaired kidney function, or high blood nitrogen levels should not use this medication. Moreover, patients with metabolic disorders, severe heart failure, pulmonary edema, very low or absent urine output, high sodium or chloride levels, or a history of myocardial infarction should also not receive this medication. This medication should be used carefully in patients with severe acidosis, congestive heart failure, swelling due to sodium retention, hyperkalemia, or liver or kidney dysfunction. This medication contains sodium bisulfite, which can provoke allergic reactions or asthma attacks in sensitive individuals, especially those with asthma. During administration, side effects such as rash, nausea, vomiting, chest discomfort, palpitations, and increased blood pressure may occur, and rarely severe reactions such as difficulty in breathing or shock may occur. Administering in large amounts quickly may result in acidosis, so care should be taken with the rate of administration. When using this medication in large quantities or concurrently with electrolyte-containing solutions, careful monitoring of electrolyte balance in the body is essential. Diabetic patients should frequently check their blood sugar levels to respond to changes in glucose levels. When used with tetracycline antibiotics, the protein-sparing effect of this medication may decrease, so caution is required when co-administering. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been established, thus it should only be used when the therapeutic benefit outweighs the risks. In children, kidney function may be immature, so concentrations should be kept low and serum ammonia levels should be monitored frequently to reduce the risk of hyperammonemia. Elderly patients may have declined physical function, and thus care should be taken to adjust the rate of administration and dosage accordingly. This medication contains electrolytes which may cause electrolyte imbalances when administered in large amounts, so caution is necessary, and the infusion rate should be slow. Before use, verify that the solution is clear and without abnormalities, prepare it in an aseptic state, and ensure sterilization of injection equipment.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a sealed container to prevent air or moisture from entering. Avoid direct sunlight and store in a place at normal room temperature, neither too hot nor too cold.
This medication is a colorless to pale yellow transparent solution contained in a polypropylene aquatic injection vial.
