Treatment of otitis media, respiratory infections (pneumonia, pharyngitis, etc.), and urinary tract infections (pyelonephritis, cystitis, etc.)
This medication effectively works against various bacteria including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli. It is used in the treatment of respiratory infections such as otitis media, pneumonia, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and bronchitis, and is also effective for urinary tract infections such as pyelonephritis, cystitis, and gonococcal urethritis. Additionally, it is applicable for various skin and soft tissue infections such as abscesses, boils, folliculitis, and soft tissue infections. This medication also aids in the treatment of wound infections and abscesses, supporting rapid recovery. It is used to broadly address infections caused by different types of bacteria and improve patients' symptoms.
As cefaclor hydrate, 250mg (potency) is administered orally every 8 hours. In cases of severe infections and infections with low sensitivity, the dosage can be doubled. For acute gonococcal urethritis, this drug can be administered in a single dosage of 3g along with probenecid 1g.
Administer 20mg (potency) per kg of body weight divided every 8 hours. In the case of severe infections, otitis media, and infections with low sensitivity, a dosage of 40mg (potency) per kg of body weight can be administered, with a maximum dosage being 1
This drug works by binding to specific proteins and disrupting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, leading to bacterial death. This medication should not be used in patients who have previously experienced shock from this drug or have shown allergic reactions to it or to cephalosporin antibiotics. Caution should be observed in patients with a history of allergy to penicillin antibiotics, frequent allergic reactions such as asthma, rash, hives, severely reduced kidney function, difficulty swallowing, elderly patients, or those with a history of gastrointestinal disease. During use of this medicine, rare but severe allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis may occur, thus symptoms should be carefully monitored and administering should be stopped immediately if abnormalities arise, followed by appropriate treatment. Severe rashes or symptoms like toxic epidermal necrolysis may present on the skin, requiring close observation of skin conditions. Blood tests may reveal abnormalities such as decreased white blood cells or platelets, anemia, etc., and should be regularly checked, stopping administration if any irregularities are found. Liver function abnormalities or reduced kidney function may occur, necessitating periodic testing and observation of liver and kidney functions. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, or vomiting may arise, and in serious cases, severe colitis like pseudomembranous colitis can develop; symptoms should be reported immediately. Respiratory symptoms, though rare, may include fever, cough, or difficulty breathing; if these occur, treatment should be discontinued and medical help sought. Central nervous system effects such as anxiety, agitation, dizziness, drowsiness, or hallucinations may occur rarely, warranting caution. This drug may lead to dysbiosis such as stomatitis or candidiasis. Rarely, bleeding tendencies due to vitamin K deficiency or symptoms of vitamin B complex deficiency may also occur, thus close observation is necessary. This drug can interact with other medications; thus, when used with probenecid, nephrotoxic antibiotics, or diuretics, particular attention should be paid to kidney function. Additionally, bleeding risks increase when used in conjunction with anticoagulants, requiring regular monitoring of coagulation parameters. When used with oral contraceptives, contraceptive efficacy may decrease; therefore, it is advisable to employ an alternative contraception method as well. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this drug only when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established; caution is also needed during breastfeeding considering its effects on the infant. For neonates under 1 month, the safety and efficacy are not established, thus should be avoided. In the elderly, adverse reactions may occur more easily due to reduced physiological function, along with bleeding risks from vitamin K deficiency; careful observation and adjustment of dosage and frequency of administration are necessary. Additionally, this medication may impact the results of certain clinical tests, and caution is warranted when interpreting test results.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
