This medication is used to relieve symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and nasal congestion due to colds, allergies, and vasomotor rhinitis. In particular, the tablet and syrup formulation can effectively improve tear symptoms as well. Patients can manage their uncomfortable nasal symptoms comfortably with this medication.

How to take

Adult dose

Tablets: Take 1 tablet once, three times a day after meals. Capsules: Take 1 capsule once, three times a day after meals. Syrup: Take 10 mL once, three times a day after meals.

Child dose

Tablets: For ages 12-14, take 1/2 tablet once, three times a day after meals. Capsules: For ages 12-14, take 1/2 capsule once, three times a day after meals. Syrup: For ages 12 and older, take 10 mL once,

Precautions

This medication contains pseudoephedrine, which may cause serious skin reactions such as acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis in some patients. If fever, red spots on the skin, or numerous small pustules occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. This medication is contraindicated in certain patients. For example, it should not be used by those allergic to it, those with severe liver or kidney dysfunction, severe heart disease patients, those with urinary retention issues, patients with hypertension or coronary artery disease, pregnant or breastfeeding women, infants under 2 years of age, patients taking MAO inhibitors, and those with specific genetic metabolic disorders such as lactose intolerance. Do not take this medication together with blood pressure medications, alcohol, sleeping pills, sedatives, MAO inhibitors, sympathomimetics, some antidepressants, and especially ensure that at least 15 days have passed after taking an MAO inhibitor before starting this medication. During administration, it is advisable to avoid activities requiring concentration, such as driving or operating hazardous machinery. Patients with asthma, glaucoma, heart disease, arrhythmia, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, prostatic hyperplasia, or those under the age of 12 must consult a healthcare professional before taking this medication. If symptoms do not improve within 7 days of taking this medication or if high fever occurs, immediately stop taking it and consult a healthcare professional. If any central nervous system symptoms appear, such as sedation, drowsiness, anxiety, sweating, hypotension, visual disturbances, hallucinations, seizures, or shortness of breath, stop taking it immediately and consult an expert. Additionally, if skin reactions, gastrointestinal disturbances, urinary retention, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis symptoms, ischemic colitis symptoms, severe headaches, or cerebrovascular-related symptoms appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hallucinations, seizures, nervousness, dizziness, and insomnia may occur, which may require emergency measures such as gastric lavage or dialysis. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children, away from direct sunlight, in a cool, dry place, sealed in the original container. Transferring to another container may pose a risk of misuse or degradation of quality.

Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), severe skin reactions associated with high fever, respiratory failure, coma, circulatory collapse, acute toxicity, ischemic colitis symptoms (sudden abdominal pain, rectal bleeding), reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome and reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome symptoms (sudden and very severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, visual impairment)

Drug interactions

Do not take this medication with antihypertensive agents, central nervous system depressants (sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers), MAO inhibitors, sympathomimetics, tricyclic antidepressants, guanethidine, bretylium, beta-nai, debrisoquine, methyl dopa, sympathomimetic drugs (decongestants, appetite suppressants, amphetamines type stimulants), and α and β adrenergic blockers (inhibitors).

Food interactions
