Children's dosage
Before administering cisplatin, children should be given an appropriate amount of fluid (300-900 mL/㎡) for over 2 hours. During administration, mix 300-900 mL/㎡ of physiological saline solution or dextrose in saline.

This medication is used for the treatment of testicular cancer, bladder cancer, prostate cancer, ovarian cancer, head and neck cancer, lung cancer, esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, and cervical cancer.

Dosage

Testicular cancer, bladder cancer, prostate cancer: cisplatin 15-20 mg/㎡ administered once daily for 5 consecutive days, followed by a break of at least 2 weeks, repeat cycle (Regimen A). Ovarian cancer: 50-70 mg/㎡ administered once daily followed by breaks of at least 3 weeks, repeat cycle (Regimen B). Head and neck cancer: 10-20 mg/㎡ administered once daily for 5 consecutive days, followed by a break of at least 2 weeks, repeat cycle (Regimen D). Lung cancer: 70-

Precautions

This drug should not be used in patients with severely impaired kidney function as it may further deteriorate renal function. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of allergic reactions to this drug or other platinum-containing medications, severely impaired liver function, or significantly compromised bone marrow function. Patients with auditory problems or previous nerve damage from this drug, pregnant women or women of childbearing potential, breastfeeding women, and those with acute infections should also not use this medication. Patients with moderately impaired kidney or liver function, patients with weakened bone marrow function, those with concurrent infections, patients with chickenpox, elderly patients, children, and those using this medication for an extended period should be used with special caution. This drug can cause various side effects in multiple systems including respiratory, gastrointestinal, renal, hematologic, auditory, nervous, and hepatic, so the patient's condition should be monitored frequently and immediate action should be taken upon any signs of abnormality. Symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite are common, and appropriate management for these symptoms should be ensured. This drug may cause hearing loss, and extra caution should be exercised when administering it to children. As it can affect reproductive function, male patients are advised to consult about sperm cryopreservation before treatment. The use of this drug in combination with other chemotherapy agents or certain antibiotics and diuretics may exacerbate side effects, so caution is necessary when used concomitantly. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this medication, and women of childbearing potential should ensure effective contraception during and for a certain period after treatment. Children and elderly patients may have weakened body functions, so dosage and intervals should be adjusted and their condition should be closely monitored upon administration. In case of overdose, severe kidney damage, hearing loss, and bone marrow suppression may occur, so overdose must be avoided. If overdose occurs, treatment to protect the kidneys and facilitate platinum excretion should be promptly implemented. This medication should be mixed with physiological saline for preparation and administration, and care should be taken to avoid direct sunlight and prevent leakage of the solution outside the blood vessel during injection. When storing this drug, it must be kept in a sealed container that blocks light, and it is safe to store it at a temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature. Proper storage maintains the drug’s efficacy and prevents degradation.
