Activirin Tablets

Adult dose

(Tablet) Take 1 tablet 3 times a day after meals. (Capsule) Take 1 capsule 3 times a day after meals. (Syrup) Take 10 mL once a day, 3 times after meals.

Child dose

(Tablet) For ages 12 to 14, take 1/2 tablet 3 times a day after meals. (Capsule) For ages 12 to 14, take 1/2 capsule 3 times a day after meals. (Syrup) For ages 12 and older, take 10 mL once a day.

This medication contains pseudoephedrine, which can rarely cause serious skin reactions such as acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis. If symptoms such as fever, redness of the skin, or the appearance of numerous small pustules occur, you should stop taking this medication immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. Moreover, individuals who have had allergic reactions to this medication, those with severely impaired liver or kidney function, those with severe heart disease, those having difficulty urinating, those with hypertension or coronary artery disease, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, breastfeeding mothers, infants under 2 years old, and those taking certain antidepressants or MAO inhibitors should not take this medication. It is important not to take this medication concurrently with various drugs such as antihypertensives, alcohol, sleeping pills or sedatives, and sympathomimetics. In particular, this medication can only be started at least 15 days after taking an MAO inhibitor. During treatment, drowsiness or decreased concentration may occur, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. Individuals with asthma, glaucoma, heart disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, benign prostatic hyperplasia, or children under 12 years of age should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. If symptoms do not improve within 7 days or if a high fever occurs, you should stop taking the medication and consult a doctor. Also, if abnormal symptoms like sedation, anxiety, hallucinations, seizures, visual disturbances, skin rashes, indigestion, or urinary issues occur, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a specialist. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hallucinations, seizures, and insomnia may occur, and immediate medical attention is necessary if such symptoms arise. When storing, keep out of reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and store in a cool, dry place sealed in its original container.

Serious side effects

Drug interactions

Do not take this medication with antihypertensives, central nervous system depressants (sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers), MAO inhibitors, sympathomimetics, tricyclic antidepressants, guanethidine, bretylium, beta-nide, desipramine, methyldopa, sympathomimetic drugs (decongestants, appetite suppressants, amphetamine-type stimulants), or alpha and beta adrenergic blockers (inhibitors). Caution is required when taking with alcohol.

This medication should be stored in a sealed container that can block light, and the storage temperature should be maintained between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature. Proper storage will help maintain the drug's effectiveness and prevent it from deteriorating.
