Efficacy & effects

This medication is primarily used to relieve symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, and tearing associated with common cold, allergic rhinitis, and vasomotor rhinitis. The tablet and syrup improve tearing symptoms as well, while the capsule mainly helps relieve nasal symptoms. Therefore, this medication is effectively used to alleviate uncomfortable symptoms caused by rhinitis.

Dosage

(Tablet) Take 1 tablet 3 times a day after meals. (Capsule) Take 1 capsule 3 times a day after meals. (Syrup) Take 10 mL 3 times a day after meals.

Precautions

This medication contains pseudoephedrine, which can rarely cause serious skin reactions such as acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis. If symptoms such as fever, redness of the skin, or numerous small pustules occur, immediately stop taking this medication and consult a doctor or pharmacist. Additionally, individuals who have had allergic reactions to this medication, those with severe liver or kidney dysfunction, those with severe heart disease, those who have difficulty urinating, those with hypertension or coronary artery disease, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, breastfeeding women, children under 2 years of age, and those taking certain antidepressants or MAO inhibitors should not take this medication. During treatment with this medication, it is important not to use multiple medications simultaneously, including antihypertensives, alcohol, sleep aids or sedatives, and sympathomimetics. Specifically, at least 15 days must pass after taking an MAO inhibitor before starting this medication. While taking this medication, drowsiness or decreased concentration may occur, so avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. Individuals with asthma, glaucoma, heart disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, benign prostatic hyperplasia, or children under 12 years should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. If symptoms do not improve within 7 days or if high fever occurs, discontinue use and consult a doctor. Also, if abnormal symptoms such as sedation, anxiety, hallucinations, convulsions, vision problems, skin rash, indigestion, or urinary problems appear, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a healthcare professional. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hallucinations, convulsions, and insomnia may occur, requiring caution; treatment should be sought immediately.

Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), high fever, erythema, multiple small pustules, severe skin reactions, symptoms of ischemic colitis (sudden severe abdominal pain, rectal bleeding), sudden and severe headache, lightning headache, confusion, seizure, visual disturbances

Interactions

Do not take this medication with antihypertensives, central nervous system depressants (sleep aids, sedatives, tranquilizers), MAO inhibitors, sympathomimetics, tricyclic antidepressants, guanethidine, bretylium, betanidine, debrisoquine, methyldopa, sympathomimetic drugs (decongestants, appetite suppressants, amphetamine-type stimulants), and alpha and beta adrenergic blockers (inhibitors). Caution is required when taking with alcohol.
