This medication contains glucose, which may increase the consumption of vitamin B1 (thiamine) in the body during intravenous injection, requiring caution. There is a risk of allergic reactions or hypersensitivity reactions such as anaphylaxis when using this medication; therefore, if any unusual symptoms appear, administration should be stopped immediately, and appropriate treatment should be initiated. Since this solution contains potassium, patients with impaired kidney function or heart disease may have an increased risk of hyperkalemia, and potassium levels should be checked regularly. Given that it contains glucose, administering it to patients with impaired glucose tolerance may cause a rapid increase in blood sugar levels, necessitating frequent blood sugar monitoring and consideration for insulin administration if needed. Due to the presence of sodium and chloride ions, it may cause hypernatremia or hyperchloremia, and caution is required in patients at risk of fluid overload. This medication may induce hyponatremia, so especially children, the elderly, and post-surgical patients should have their serum sodium levels and neurological symptoms closely monitored. Due to the calcium content, there is a risk of hypercalcemia, so administration should be avoided in patients with a history of hypercalcemia or kidney stones. Because fluid overload may occur, the dosage and rate of administration should be carefully adjusted, with continuous monitoring of fluid balance and electrolyte status. In patients with specific conditions such as lactic acidosis, hypervolemia, hypernatremia, hyperglycemia, and neonates, administration should be avoided or used very cautiously. This medication may interact with various drugs, so the side effects and potential interactions of any concurrent medications must be verified. When administered to pregnant or breastfeeding women, neonates, and the elderly, careful consideration of the potential risks and benefits of this medication is essential, and blood sugar and electrolyte status should be closely monitored. Before administration, the injection site should be sanitized to prevent infection, the medication should be warmed to body temperature, and the infusion rate should be adjusted slowly. Once opened, it should be used immediately, and any leftover medication should be discarded. Caution is necessary during continuous infusion to reduce the risk of air embolism.
