Efficacy & effects

This medication is used to replenish fluids and electrolytes necessary during dehydration or before and after surgery. It also plays a role in supplying energy needed for recovery. Therefore, it effectively improves symptoms in cases of dehydration or imbalance of bodily fluids and electrolytes.

Dosage

In general, adults receive a single intravenous infusion of 500-1,000mL. The infusion rate is 300-500mL per hour (75-120 drops per minute).

Precautions

This drug contains a glucose-based injection solution, which may cause a rapid increase in the consumption of thiamine (vitamin B1) in the body during intravenous administration, potentially leading to severe thiamine deficiency. It should not be administered to patients with lactic acidosis, fluid overload, storage dehydration, hypokalemia, or hypernatremia. Caution is advised when using in patients with impaired renal function, heart failure, diabetes, reduced urine output due to urinary obstruction, severe liver dysfunction, or hyponatremia. If large amounts or rapid administration of this drug occur, side effects such as cerebral edema, pulmonary edema, and peripheral edema may arise, so caution is necessary. During administration, blood glucose, serum electrolytes, and fluid balance should be regularly monitored to observe the patient's condition well. For pregnant women, nursing mothers, women of childbearing age, neonates and children, and the elderly, the component DEHP contained in this drug container may leach slightly, but the associated risk is very low and the benefits of treatment outweigh this risk. During pregnancy, this medication should only be used when absolutely necessary, considering the potential risks to the fetus, and blood glucose changes in the mother and newborn should be closely monitored during administration.
