Symptoms of vitamin D metabolism abnormalities (hypocalcemia, bone pain, etc.) and improvement of osteoporosis
This medication is used to improve symptoms associated with vitamin D metabolism abnormalities such as hypocalcemia, tetany, bone pain, and bone lesions due to chronic renal failure, hypoparathyroidism, vitamin D resistant rickets, and osteomalacia. It is also effective for treating osteoporosis. Therefore, it helps relieve symptoms of these conditions and maintain bone health.
In cases of chronic renal failure and osteoporosis, Alfacalcidol is administered orally once daily at a dose of 0.5 to 1 µg. For hypoparathyroidism and other diseases related to vitamin D metabolic abnormalities, this medication is given orally once daily at a dose of 1 to 4 µg. The dosage is adjusted under sufficient control of the patient's serum calcium levels.
For osteoporosis, Alfacalcidol is administered orally once daily at a dose of 0.01 to 0.03 µg per kg of body weight. For other conditions, this medication is given orally once daily at a dose of 0.05 to 0.1 µg per kg of body weight.
This medication should not be taken by patients with abnormally high levels of calcium and phosphorus in the blood. Particularly, patients with hypercalcemia, hyperphosphatemia, hypermagnesemia, or those whose product of calcium and phosphorus in the blood exceeds a certain value should avoid taking it. Patients with excessively alkaline blood or symptoms of vitamin D overdose should also refrain from using this medication. If you are allergic to any ingredients in this medication or have lactose intolerance, you should avoid taking it. While taking this medication, it is advisable not to use medications containing magnesium, vitamin D preparations, calcium supplements, or certain diuretics. This is due to the risk of excessively high calcium levels when taken with this medication. Women who are breastfeeding should avoid taking this medication if possible, as its safety is not assured; if necessary, it is preferable to stop breastfeeding. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a physician and take it only when necessary, as it may harm the fetus. Children, the elderly, and individuals taking certain medications should adjust the dosage or take it with caution. If any unusual symptoms arise during the use of this medication, such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, headache, dizziness, heart abnormalities, or decreased kidney function, you should stop taking it immediately and consult a specialist. Regular monitoring of serum calcium levels and kidney function is particularly important. In case of overdose, immediately stop taking it and initiate a low-calcium diet and treatment; if necessary, emergency measures such as inducing vomiting or gastric lavage should be sought. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container to maintain quality.

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to prevent air and moisture from entering, preferably at room temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it this way helps to maintain the effectiveness of the medication and prevents deterioration.
