Adult dose

Treatment of gastric ulcer Adults: Administer 20 mg of vonoprazan orally once daily. Treatment is generally continued for up to 8 weeks. Treatment of erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease and maintenance therapy after treatment Treatment: Adults: Administer 20 mg of vonoprazan orally once daily. Treatment is generally continued for up to 4 weeks. If the effect is insufficient, treatment may be continued for up to 8 weeks. Maintenance therapy: Administer 10 mg orally once daily; if the effect is insufficient, 20 mg may be administered orally once daily. Prevention of recurrence of gastric or duodenal ulcers during administration of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) Adults: Administer 10 mg of vonoprazan orally once daily.

This medication should not be administered to patients who are hypersensitive to this drug or its components or who have experienced such reactions in the past. Additionally, patients who are taking certain antiviral drugs such as atazanavir, nelpiravir, or rilpivirine should not take this medication concurrently. Patients with impaired kidney function, patients with liver dysfunction, and elderly patients should use this medication with caution. When taking this medication, gastrointestinal-related symptoms such as stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting may occur. Moreover, various adverse reactions such as edema, allergic reactions, infections, myalgia, dizziness, insomnia, and skin rashes have been reported. As there is a potential for liver dysfunction, it is important to immediately discontinue this medication if symptoms of liver damage or abnormalities in liver function tests occur. Long-term use requires regular monitoring through endoscopic examinations, and malignancies may be masked, so it is essential to assess the malignancy risk before use. This medication may increase the risk of bone fractures; therefore, special caution should be taken, particularly for the elderly or those at high risk of osteoporosis. It suppresses gastric acid secretion and alters gastric acidity, which may hinder the absorption of other medications dependent on gastric acid, resulting in restrictions or necessary precautions with some drugs. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not be administered this medication, except in special circumstances, and it is safer to avoid breastfeeding while on this medication. The safety in children has not been established; therefore, it is advisable not to use it in pediatric patients. When taking, it is important to remove the packaged tablet and take it, taking care not to swallow the packaging sheet, as it may injure the esophagus and cause serious complications.
