Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have allergic reactions to this drug or any of its components. It should be used with caution in patients who are taking other serotonergic medications, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). During the use of this medication, serious allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis-like symptoms may occur, so if symptoms arise, the medication should be discontinued immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Additionally, seizures similar to epilepsy may occur rarely, so careful monitoring of the patient's condition is necessary. Common side effects may include headache, diarrhea, constipation, liver function abnormalities, rash, and itching. In clinical trials and post-marketing surveys, some patients have reported new side effects such as insomnia or rashes. This medication is primarily used for patients who have received strong anti-cancer treatments that induce significant nausea and vomiting. When used with serotonergic medications, severe symptoms known as serotonin syndrome may occur, so patients should be closely monitored during combined use. This medication is metabolized in the liver, so taking it with drugs that inhibit liver metabolic enzymes may increase blood concentration and the risk of side effects. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should only use this medication if the therapeutic effect is deemed to outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding should be discontinued if nursing. Safety in children has not been adequately confirmed, so caution is needed. Elderly patients may have reduced physiological function, so they should be observed closely and administered with caution; medication should be stopped immediately if any adverse reactions occur. This drug may alter the medication's effects when mixed with certain injectable solutions, so it is best not to mix them during preparation.
