Luteal phase support therapy in ART for women with infertility
This medication is used in the assisted reproductive technology (ART) process for women with infertility who have difficulty using the vaginal route or have no intolerance. The luteal phase is a crucial period for maintaining pregnancy, during which this medication helps support luteal function and increase the success rate of pregnancy. Therefore, it is one of the essential treatments for women undergoing infertility treatment.
Subcutaneously inject 25 mg once daily from the day of oocyte retrieval until 12 weeks of pregnancy. Administer in an appropriate subcutaneous area (thigh or abdomen) slowly at an angle of 45° to 90° to minimize the risk of local tissue damage.
This medication should be used with caution in patients at risk for cardiovascular diseases such as thromboembolic disorders or myocardial infarction, and it should be discontinued immediately if such symptoms arise or are suspected. This medication has been used for the prevention of habitual miscarriage, but there is not yet sufficient scientific evidence for its effectiveness. The cause of infertility in the patient and their partner should be confirmed before starting treatment. It should not be used in patients who are allergic to the main ingredient or other components of this medication, or in cases of undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding. Patients experiencing a miscarriage, or those with breast cancer, genital malignant tumors, severe liver dysfunction, or a history of liver tumors should also avoid this medication. Patients with a history of thromboembolic disorders or porphyria, or specific liver diseases during pregnancy should not use this medication. Patients with slightly impaired liver function, depression, asthma, migraine, epilepsy, or heart or kidney diseases should use this medication carefully, as their symptoms may worsen. Diabetic patients should be closely monitored for potential difficulties in blood sugar control while taking this medication. This medication may cause pain, irritation, or itching at the injection site, and symptoms such as headaches, vaginal bleeding, and uterine cramps may also occur. Rarely, side effects such as allergic reactions, weight gain, depression, elevated blood pressure, liver function changes, and alopecia have been reported. Before taking this medication, examinations of the breasts and pelvis should be performed, and during administration, if symptoms of thrombosis, severe headaches, vision changes, or symptoms of liver disease occur, it should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted. This medication may increase the risk of thrombosis, so special caution is advised for individuals over 35 years old or those who smoke, or are at risk for vascular diseases. Patients with a history of depression should carefully monitor their condition, and if symptoms worsen, they should discontinue use. Sudden withdrawal can trigger anxiety or seizures, so it should be done under a doctor's instruction. This medication may cause fluid retention, which can exacerbate underlying conditions such as heart, kidney, epilepsy, migraine, or asthma, so these patients must be monitored closely. If symptoms related to liver tumors or intra-abdominal bleeding occur, a diagnosis should be sought immediately. Diabetic patients may experience changes in blood sugar control during treatment, so caution is necessary. This medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness, so patients should be careful when driving or operating machinery. Interactions with other medications may occur, especially if taking drugs that induce or inhibit drug metabolism in the liver, thus consulting a doctor is advised. It should not be used during pregnancy as it may affect the fetus, and it should be avoided during breastfeeding as it is secreted in breast milk. Safety has not been adequately established in children or the elderly. In cases of overdose, symptoms may include drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness, and there is no specific antidote, so treatment should be symptomatic. This medication should only be administered by subcutaneous injection, and used syringes should not be reused.
