This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, it should not be used in patients with an allergy to any ingredient of this medication, severely impaired liver function, muscle disorders, patients taking certain medications concomitantly, patients with severe renal impairment, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. This medication may affect liver function; therefore, patients with a history of liver disease or excessive alcohol consumption should have liver function tests conducted before administration and should be monitored periodically. This medication may cause musculoskeletal side effects such as muscle pain or muscle damage; hence, if symptoms such as myalgia, muscle weakness, or cramps occur, a physician should be consulted immediately. Special care is needed for patients with decreased renal function, the elderly, alcoholics, and those with a family history of these conditions. This medication may interact with other drugs; thus, it is essential to inform healthcare providers about any medications currently being taken, as co-administration with certain drugs can increase the blood concentration of this medication, heightening the risk of side effects. Women of childbearing potential should use adequate contraception and should not take this medication during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If this medication has been taken during pregnancy, it should be discontinued immediately and a healthcare provider should be consulted.
