Therefore, it is effective in improving various issues related to bone health.

How to take

Adult dose

For chronic renal failure and osteoporosis, alfacalcidol is administered orally once daily at 0.5–1 µg. For hypoparathyroidism and other diseases resulting from vitamin D metabolism disorders, this medication is administered orally once daily at 1–4 µg.

Child dose

For osteoporosis, alfacalcidol is administered orally once daily at 0.01–0.03 µg per kg of body weight. For other diseases, this medication is administered orally once daily at 0.05–0.1 µg per kg of body weight.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by patients with hypercalcemia, hyperphosphatemia, or hypermagnesemia. It should also be avoided in cases where the product of calcium and phosphorus in the blood exceeds a certain level or in cases of alkalosis. If there are symptoms of vitamin D overdose or if there is an allergy to this medication or its ingredients, it should be avoided. During the use of this medication, it should not be taken together with drugs containing magnesium, vitamin D preparations, calcium-containing preparations, and certain diuretics as it may cause dangerously high levels of calcium in the blood.
