Precautions

This medication can impose a burden on the liver, so individuals who regularly consume more than three alcoholic drinks a day should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking it. The acetaminophen component in this medication can rarely cause serious skin reactions; if skin rash or allergic symptoms appear, the use should be discontinued immediately and consultation with a professional should take place. Care should be taken not to exceed a maximum daily dose of 4,000 mg of acetaminophen and it should not be taken in conjunction with other products containing acetaminophen to prevent liver damage. The pseudoephedrine component in this medication can rarely cause serious skin reactions, so if fever or red spots and small blisters appear on the skin, stop taking the medication and consult a professional. This medication should not be taken by individuals with a history of certain allergies, those who have previously had asthma, infants under 3 months old, people taking certain antidepressants, or individuals with severe hypertension or kidney disease. It is advisable to avoid taking cough expectorants, other cold medications, antipyretics, sedatives, or antihistamines concurrently while using this medication. Children suspected of having chickenpox or influenza, those with specific allergic conditions, individuals with liver, kidney, or heart disease, and pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a professional prior to usage. If any unusual symptoms occur after taking the medication, like rash, itching, vomiting, or dizziness, discontinue use immediately and seek consultation. If severe allergic reactions or symptoms of respiratory distress or liver dysfunction occur, urgent medical attention is needed. Children under the age of 2 should not take this medication and should only do so under the direction of a physician if absolutely necessary. Be sure to follow the prescribed dosage and administration, avoid long-term use, and refrain from drinking alcohol while on this medication. Additionally, this medication can cause drowsiness; therefore, operating a vehicle or machinery should be avoided. Caution is required as the risk of side effects may increase when combined with certain medications. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in a tightly sealed container, away from direct sunlight, in a cool, dry place. Transferring the medication to another container can pose a risk of misuse and quality degradation, so it must be stored in the original container.
