This medication helps improve symptoms such as hypocalcemia, tetany, bone pain, and bone lesion symptoms arising from Vitamin D metabolic disorders such as chronic renal failure, hypoparathyroidism, and vitamin D resistant rickets or osteomalacia. Additionally, it is effective in reducing bone weakness and fracture risk due to osteoporosis. Therefore, this medication is used to maintain bone health and improve related symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

For Chronic Renal Failure and Osteoporosis: Administer Alfacalcidol 0.5~1 µg orally once a day. For Hypoparathyroidism and other diseases due to Vitamin D metabolic disorders: Administer this medication 1~4 µg orally once a day.

Child dose

For Osteoporosis: Administer Alfacalcidol 0.01~0.03 µg per kg body weight orally once a day. For Other Diseases: Administer this medication 0.05~0.1 µg per kg body weight orally once a day.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by patients with high levels of calcium and phosphorus in their blood. It should also be avoided by patients with allergic reactions to this medication or exhibiting symptoms of vitamin D toxicity. During the course of this medication, it is important to avoid taking magnesium-containing preparations, other vitamin D preparations, calcium supplements, and certain diuretics together.
