Treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease
This drug is used for the treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease.
This drug is to be taken orally once a day at the same time each day. If necessary, it may be taken twice a day. Dosage increase: The maximum daily dose is 20 mg, and it should be increased by 5 mg weekly for the first 3 weeks to reach the maintenance dose. - First week (days 1-7): 5 mg once daily - Second week (days 8-14): 10 mg once daily - Third week (days 15-21):
This drug should not be used in patients who are allergic to any of its components, those with severely impaired liver function, and those with severely reduced kidney function. Caution should be exercised when administering this drug to patients with epilepsy or those who have a history of seizures, as well as to individuals predisposed to epilepsy. Additionally, it is advisable not to use this drug in combination with NMDA receptor antagonists such as amantadine, ketamine, or dextromethorphan, as it may increase the risk of central nervous system side effects. Patients in conditions or situations where the acidity (pH) of urine may increase should be monitored closely. There is insufficient evidence regarding the safety of this drug in patients with heart disease or uncontrolled hypertension, thus caution is required. While taking this drug, side effects such as dizziness, headache, constipation, drowsiness, and hypertension may occur; if these symptoms appear, medical consultation should be sought. This drug may interact with other medications, particularly with levodopa, dopamine agonists, anticholinergic drugs, barbiturates, antipsychotic medications, and skeletal muscle relaxants, and caution is recommended in such cases. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should use this drug only if absolutely necessary, as there may be risks to the fetus. Breastfeeding mothers are advised to discontinue breastfeeding as this drug may be transferred into breast milk. This drug should not be used in children or adolescents under 18 years old as its safety and efficacy have not been established. In the event of an overdose, central nervous system symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, dizziness, hallucinations, seizures, as well as gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought. This drug may slow down the response rate of patients, so caution is required while driving or operating machinery. Lastly, this drug must be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers as this may affect its quality.

This drug should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent air or moisture from entering. The storage temperature should ideally be maintained between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature to preserve its effectiveness over time.
