This medication is used to improve symptoms of difficulty in expectoration associated with acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, and cystic fibrosis.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Acute conditions: 200 mg once, three times a day Chronic conditions: 200 mg once, twice a day

Children's dosage

Acute conditions (ages 6 to 14): 200 mg once, twice a day Chronic conditions (ages 6 to 14): 100 mg once, three times a day Cystic fibrosis (ages 6 and above): 200 mg once, three times a day

Precautions

This drug should not be taken by anyone who has had an allergic reaction to this drug or any of its components. People with ulcers in the stomach or duodenum should also avoid using this medication. Additionally, infants under 2 years of age should not take this medication. This drug contains lactose, so individuals with a genetic condition that prevents them from breaking down lactose should avoid taking it. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking this medication. Breastfeeding women are also advised to consult a healthcare professional before use, as it is unclear how much of this drug is excreted in breast milk. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, mouth inflammation, heartburn, or diarrhea occur during treatment, stop taking this medication immediately and consult a doctor. If symptoms like hives, skin itching, rash, headache, ear ringing, or bronchospasm in asthma patients occur, stop taking it immediately and seek expert assistance. If there are symptoms like rapid heartbeat or high blood pressure, stop taking it immediately. Serious symptoms such as difficulty breathing can occur, so if such symptoms develop, consult a healthcare provider immediately. When taking this medication, it is advisable to take it at least 2 hours apart from certain antibiotics, as it may reduce the effectiveness of the antibiotics. Avoid mixing other medications in the solution of this drug. Store this medication in a safe place out of reach of children and keep it in the original container to maintain its quality and prevent misuse.
