Treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease
This medication is used for the treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease. It helps improve the patient's memory decline and cognitive function, and helps maintain daily living abilities. Additionally, it contributes to the alleviation of behavioral symptoms in patients, thereby enhancing quality of life.
Administered orally once a day at the same time each day. If necessary, it may be given twice a day. The maximum daily dose increase is 20 mg, increased by 5 mg per week for the first 3 weeks. First week (days 1-7): 5 mg once daily. Second week (days 8-14): 10 mg once daily. Third week (days 15-21): 15 mg once daily. From the fourth week onwards: 20 mg once daily. The maintenance dose is 20 mg once daily. For the elderly aged 65 and over.
This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to any of its ingredients. It should also not be administered to patients with severely impaired liver function or significantly reduced kidney function. This medication contains lactose and should not be taken by patients with lactose intolerance or certain genetic lactose metabolism disorders. Patients with epilepsy or a history of seizures should use this medication cautiously, and those at a high risk of seizures should also exercise caution. Co-administration with other NMDA antagonists may increase the risk of side effects, hence combination should be avoided. Caution is warranted in patients with factors that change urine acidity (pH) or with cardiovascular disease and uncontrolled hypertension. Side effects may include dizziness, headache, constipation, drowsiness, and hypertension, among others, and various neurological and gastrointestinal adverse reactions have been reported. There are drug interactions, especially with certain antipsychotic medications, skeletal muscle relaxants, anticoagulants, and caution is advised when using them together. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the risks and benefits before use, as the use of this medication may be hazardous. Nursing mothers are advised to discontinue breastfeeding as this medication could be excreted in breast milk. Safety and efficacy for children and adolescents under 18 years have not been established. In case of overdose, central nervous system symptoms and gastrointestinal symptoms may appear, and immediate medical attention should be sought. This medication may affect the speed of response and concentration in patients, thus caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. When storing, keep out of reach of children and do not transfer to another container.

This medication should be stored in a sealed container to prevent air exposure, at room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage will help maintain the effectiveness of the medication.
