Improvement in blood sugar control in Type 2 diabetes
This medication contains both empagliflozin and linagliptin, which help control blood sugar levels in patients with Type 2 diabetes. It is more effective when used in conjunction with diet and exercise, and it is used to maintain stable blood sugar levels.
The recommended starting dose of this medication is 1 time a day with empagliflozin 10 mg/linagliptin 5 mg. If the patient tolerates empagliflozin 10 mg/linagliptin 5 mg and additional blood sugar control is needed, the dose can be increased to 1 time a day with 25/5 mg. This medication can be taken regardless of meals. The tablet should be swallowed whole. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered.
This medication contains two ingredients, empagliflozin and linagliptin, and is primarily used for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes. This medication should not be used in patients with allergies to empagliflozin or linagliptin, in patients with Type 1 diabetes, patients with diabetic ketoacidosis, and patients undergoing dialysis. Patients with decreased kidney function may experience reduced effectiveness, so kidney function should be regularly monitored, and caution is advised for patients with heart failure. Acute pancreatitis symptoms may occur; if severe abdominal pain persists, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. Additionally, bullous pemphigoid may occur, so if any skin abnormalities arise, discontinue use immediately and consult a specialist. The most commonly seen side effect while taking this medication is urinary tract infection; hypoglycemia, pancreatitis, and allergic reactions may occur rarely. Due to the risk of hypoglycemia, blood sugar levels should be closely monitored, especially when taken with insulin or sulfonylureas. This medication may cause dehydration or low blood pressure; therefore, caution is necessary for the elderly or patients with low blood pressure, and it is advisable to frequently monitor fluid status. The risk of urinary tract infections and genital fungal infections may increase, so if any infection symptoms arise, prompt treatment should be initiated. It is advisable to avoid this medication during pregnancy, and for breastfeeding mothers, it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding as the medication may pass through breast milk. It is not recommended for children under the age of 18, as safety and efficacy have not been established. In case of overdose, seek medical attention immediately for appropriate treatment, as blood dialysis may not effectively remove the medication. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in its original container to maintain its quality.
